  1. Tim, I seem to recall in one of the view camera books I think that a ND filter is need to get at least a 1 min plus exp would be a good place to start.

And leonard thanks for all your posts on the teck side of the view cameras. You have been a good source and help.

  2. Well I would say to start out with a Jobo system if you don't have room for a darkroom as doing your own B+W is nice. As for color a lab is the best way if you don't spend a lot color chems and extras. But A lot of LF guys do there own. The only problem sending out to a lab is the chance they won't get it right and thats one more thing to go wrong. As for the OC area there are some good labs there, but I can't remember where. I am sure some of the others can help.

    David.

  3. I have one and it has a learning curve you have to work out with your own

testing. I know using HC110 I have little problems, but with D76 I do get

some uneven devloping marks in the sky and the like. I mostly work with fuji acros sheet film and I have yet to find a HC110 dilution that will work with a minus devloping. I this case I might have to tank devlop in D76. Anyway I am still chipping away at it. Also make sure you get the band that comes with it, DO NOT get it with out it.

  4. As good friend of mine who is long time teacher in photo has noted over the years you just have to take your time and hope they get it. Don't

over do it with anything but the K I S S rule. And after that its still uphill from there. Good luck. Oh yea if you have a school around your area that also offers any kind of graphic class you might take time to take a class or talk to a teacher to get more ideas. Just a thought.

  5. I find it is better to not worry so much about the numbers, but just get

out and shoot. If you are not sure how much DOF you have why don't you

bracket and see what you get. One way to get the hang of it is to take

a building and shoot it at an angle and use some front swing so the plane of focus is at the same angle as one side of the building then bracket. As the DOF changes you see what happens. Just go play!!!

    Good luck, David.

  6. I have one and had good luck with mine. I do have to make sure the tank is filled to the top. I do a fill with the tank tilted to side to keep the tank filling fast. If you need more help just let me know.

    David.
