1.
Hi All,

I have been in contact with a editor who wishes to hire me to do some work for their mag - but they asked for my full day/half day rates. I have never actually worked with a magazine before, so I don't really know what to say. I don't want to under-charge myself, but I don't want to loose the work because my prices are above standards...?
Any advice would help me out! :)

Thanks

 2.
This is my first summer shooting full time weddings, and I've had the weirdest experience with this one past wedding that I am editing. I've never had any trouble with monitor calibration, printing colors etc, but this last order I printed came out ridicoulously over saturated and red..?? I just purchased CS4 and Lightroom and am wondering if the updated software would have any effect on this? The weird thing is, when I was editing them, they looked fine, but it wasn't until I went back after that they looked horrible. (Can they be corrupted in that way??) I have a neutral room to edit in, and was editing in balanced light...(the variables were the same)..
I am so confused.... I am going to go back to square one and edit the RAW files again... but how should I approach the client and let them know why it is taking so much longer than expected!?!?
:( I am exhausted trying to keep up with all the editing....

 3.
I am finding it hard to connect with local "pros" because of the competition factor. Most people in the area will not share any valuable information and advice, especially if they are in the same field. Its sad really.
My training is ongoing, as it should be. I have completed a degree, with photography as the focus. I am taking various workshops to continue to improve my skills as well as learn the business aspects of being a self-employed photographer. It truly is not easy breaking into a market where most people are self-employed.
Anyways, thanks for your help. I appreciate the advice.

 4.
Is it standard to include such things in wedding packages? [4x6's (prints) in an album]..
I am relatively new in the industry and have been researching these things, but it can be hard to get anywheres without actually talking to other professionals (hence the post).
Any help is greatly appreciated at this point..

 5.
I recently bought lightroom, and love it. I am a (new) professional wedding photographer and was wondering how many photographers actually use their creative filters for effects (Creative - Aged Film, etc...)..
They are reminiscent of Totally Rad Photoshop Actions, but who actually uses these for a final product (a question, not a judgement)..
If so, why? If not, why not?
Thanks.

 6.
Thanks for all the input. I am using a DX format DSLR - and am not too concerned with price at this point. I want to purchase for quality over affordability. I am going to check out the 17-55/f2.8 as suggested...

 7.
Hi all,
I did a brief search for my particular question, but could not find it, so here it goes:
With one of my wedding photography packages I offer 4x6 prints and an album (that they are presented in, obviously). I had been going out to a local store to purchase an album - but reading some threads on here got me wondering if this may not be a good idea.
Should I be looking online to order albums? And, do they sell them in bulk? I know it might be a matter of preference, but I would like to hear some others opinions...

 8.
I always dress professionally, yet in something that I am able to move around in...because lets face it, you aren't there to look good, but if you look bad it does reflect on you.
When I got married, my photographer wore the worst outfit, khaki pants and a golf shirt.....and SHE looked horrible. And I noticed. And now, whenever I shoot weddings I always make sure to look not only professional, but good!!
:)

 9.
Hi All,

I am a wedding photographer, just getting my bearings in the field and need to buy a good lens for shooting. I like the versatility of the zoom lenses (18-135) but I need to upgrade my equipment.
Any suggestions for sharp, fast, versatile lenses??
