1.
One thing I can tell you is that the Horseman 980 is a great camera. I have one and calibrated the the rangefinder with a 150mm cam and the 150mm Schneider G-Claron lens and its dead on from infinity to within 10 ft. All of the lenses and hardware are of rugged high quality and are a definite good value and will rival any MF except a Hassie. While the Horseman lenses are of excellent quality, look for the Nikkor and Linhof lenses since these are excellent as well.

 2.
This happened to me one time in Colorado on Mt. Sniktau near Loveland Pass. This place is one of the most easily accessed scenic views from the car. Its not a very strenuous hike but it is very rewarding. Some views can be seen here: http://www.summitpost.org/view_object.php?object_id=152332
I was using a Commercial Ektar 8 1/4 inch at the time and the shutter just freaked out. Luckily I had some backup lenses to shoot with. It was early spring and the tempertures were a little cold at this altitude. Can anyone explain why old shutters freeze up in cold tempertures? Since then I make sure that all lenses are cold tested before taking then on such a trip or in winter. Compur shutters are notorious for this freezing up in cold weather. Copals are the most reliable in this regard. I really envy the folks in Europe that can take LF cameras to the summits of the mountains in the Alps. (there is a club that does this) However I always try to make a summit trip to one area or mountain when I visit Colorado. The rule to this type of photography is that the longest focal length resolves the most detail. Any solution to the sticky shutter? I tried teflon spray to an old Glaflex lens and it seems to hold up fairly well in the cold tempertures.
3.
This is a very good answer. I take it that when the image is formed on the ground surface close to the film plane, then it is transmitted thru the glass to the external surface and this is what is focused on. I will then focus on the external glass. I have a Peak 7X loupe but am building a loupe with a 100m Rodenstock Omegar enlarging lens and some PVC tubing and wanted to get the focus right. Thanks for the reply.
4.
When focusing on the GG, is it best to adjust the diopter on the loupe to focus on the GG surface or on the ground surface close to the film plane? If the diopter is not set properly then this will surely affect focus. Where do we want to set the focus? On the inside or outside of the GG?
5.
I tried screwing the rear element of the Horseman lens into Copal 0 shutters on the following lenses:
75mm f/6.8 Caltar IIN and 90mm ACUGON (Similar to Super Angulon) Both of these may be early Copal 0 shutters. Did they change the sizing on the lens threads? The fit was almost there but the lens would not screw in. The lens threads were slightly bigger than the Copal shutter's threads

 6.
I jammed the cock mechanism on a Seiko SLV shutter (size: 32.5mm) and decided to take it apart to fix it. I did manage to uncock the shutter but then putting it back together was a nightmare. I will have to get a replacement shutter. This is from a Horseman 65mm f/7 wideangle for the Horseman 980 field camera.
I tried to substitute the lenses in a Copal 0 shutter but the lens threads don't match. It almost fits but it doesn't. Is there any way I can get another shutter for these fine lenses to use on my camera? Maybe a press shutter? Thanks in advance for your help.

 7.
Does the Horseman Press 970 accept a ground glass back? Since the camera has thick springs in place, it appears that they only take certain backs and the Newer Horseman ground glass backs do not fit. Is there any ground glass back that will fit this camera?
