I like the simplicity of this; a corp of the righside to eliminate the bird will remove that distraction while not compromising the composition - you'll lose a little size but thats ok.

this is beautiful.. proof positive of 'f/8 and be there'... great eye!

the image is lacking in contrast, is unsharp throughout and the composition really isn't that intersesting though its a cool subject...

This has a very surreal sense of depth.. almost as if portions of the image are 'floating' in space.. love the effect

A slight crop along the right side to remove that little berg would make this even stronger... I like it.

This is very interesting - has some of the qualities in posing, scene, lighting that I would expect to see in a renaissance painting by an old master - this really is 'woman as godhead'. Having just witnessed the birth of my son, I think the theme, and symbolic structure here is right on.

I like this a lot though I think the image is impacted by the tilt to the right and the lack of detail in the LRC. What a cool subject!

I can see this is a very powerful moment, and don't need to see all the other elements Michael Bender complains about being absent. I don't know the context here, from the title I'm assuming its someone having a bad day on drugs. Could be though this is from a protest or some other sort of civil unrest. It works because it focuses on the individual and brings home the distress she feels in a powerful way. I simply don't see this as a 'story' but as a depiction of utter despair for a single person.

I'd rather look at an image and appreciate it for what it is - a nice image, one that is appealing to look at. I'm not sure I 'need' to see a symbol in everything. Nice image by the way.

I had to laugh outloud at this.

Nice shot - the exposure/printing looks good. I think the composition could have benefited from a slightly different perspective - especially if the persons head in the BG could have been kept in the frame.

this just really doesn't get my interest.. and I think the receding hallway thing is a little hackneyed. The exposure isn't bad, but there just isn't much here.

wow, very nice - this is great light though it might be thought to be a little harsh for some tastes. I like it though.

I like this, though I'd like the whites to be more white - they feel a tad too grey to me here, but then that's my taste...

the patterns in the sand/snow are really interesting though I'd say the image as a whole is underexposed.

two things about this I'd like to see differently: 1) the dark areas near the bottom left are too dark - there's simply nothing there to look at. 2) the branches near the top center obscure the pathway of the stream - a lower perspective might show that a little more, giving the eye something to 'follow' into the main subject area.

Mathilda, try getting closer to your subject, or find a vantage where your view of the barn isn't occluded by branches and other distracting elements. In this image, the branches of the tree are right in front of the barn and take away visually from what you want people to see. Keep shooting!

I'm not sure if its your scan but two impressions hit me right off about this image - 1) its rather unsharp throughout, and 2) the contrast is very flat. I like the concept, the composition, but I think the technical execution could have been better. My rating (4/4) reflects that I think the aesthetics are degraded by the lack of sharpness and contrast, and that this subject and even composition isn't particularly original. You have some nice images in your folders - try this again!

I think a slightly longer shutter speed would have given this a more dynamic feeling, and agree with the previous poster that the grass in the FG is detracting. I'd like to see more shots of this genre.
