    Metamorphosis

          2

Shot with my old junk D100, SB-50DX and AF 70-210 f4-5.6. I've been

shooting film for years, and have only just began to experiment with

Digital since last year. Seems like I've got a ways to go with it.

Shot with my old D100 SB-50DX and AF 70-210 f4-5.6 Nikkor. Yeah, it's old junk gear, but it was what I could afford at the time.

I'm not the best with Digital, but I'm learning. No adjustments to the image except a mild crop and adjustment to the levels. Personally, I've found my D100 to be especially kind to shades of brown. Don't ask me why, but it feels a little Kodachrome like when it comes to browns. Maybe that's just me.

  1. Thank you very much for the compliments. They were quite a find. When out shooting nature, I find that I need to look down at, as much as I do across, the landscape. As always, I was limited with equipment, but it was fun to find them.

This is a very captivating image. It holds my attention.

The lighting effect for her face seems a bit too contrasty. The shadows generated around her left eye seem too dark. the triangle highlight on her left cheek seems unnatural (photoshop?) and doesn't work with the lighting. The catch lights in her eyes and lower lip seem too bright, especially with the left eye. I'd like to see the same shot with different lighting that would lower the contrast on the left side of her face and bring in a tad more detail.

The hair is beautiful and the choice of clothes is wonderful too.

Overall, it is a wonderful portrait.

Thanks for letting me see your image.

  2. The tone of the image is very interesting and the shades of color pull me into the photograph.

The one thing that disturbs me is the footsteps and tracks that are apparently a path through the wooded area. Given the 'serenity feel' of the image, I want to feel that I'm looking at something that as I move forward through the wilderness and not something that feels as though I am looking back at where I've been. Mainly because I've never been there. And if the path is supposed to be part of the image, then the branches to the right of the image are obstructing my view of the path.

I do love it when the snow piles up on the tree branches. I always enjoy looking at that during our winters here where I live.

Thanks for letting me see your image.

    Afternoon coffee

The image just bursts with character when I look at it.

I feel compelled to join the subject in conversation, or just share a cup of coffee. Wonderful use of a black and white image.

I love images that tell a story.

Thanks for letting me see your photograph.

It is a very captivating image.

I can definitely get the message of 'autumn.'

The only thing that strikes me as out of balance with your photograph's title is the 'greenish' background. It seems to contradict the earthtones that are so wonderfully presented in your image. Color is not my specialty, so I can't suggest what I'm sensing, but a different choice of color would seem to really give your image the full punch of the title 'autumn.' Perhaps a very dark orange background tint?

Nonetheless, this image really grabs my attention.

Thanks for letting me see it.

  3. A really nice portrait. It is very interesting to look at.

The only thing that confuses me is that I can't see a correlation between the image and your title for it, 'farmer.' There is nothing in the image that communicates a 'farmer' message to me. From what I can see, he could be a baseball coach, a fisherman, or a tradesman.

Still, it is a visually interesting image. Thanks for letting me see your photograph.

    Brilliant and vibrant color.

Macro is very challenging to photograph, so I have respect for your efforts with this image.

There's a lot of depth for a macro image in this photograph, but as I look at it, the depth of field is bothering me a bit.

It seems as though the pedals of the flower that are in focus are fighting for my attention with the stem. I do like how you were able to go with a very dark background behind the flower. That really gives me a sense of depth when I look at the image overall.

All in all, a very nice image.

Thanks for letting me see it.

    Wonderful image.

The image draws me in with the colors, contrast and composition. Nice use of the 'rule of thirds.' The only thing I long for as I look at the image is perhaps a little more detail of the mountainside. Not much, but just enough to let me see the textures in the mountains.

Thanks for sharing your image with me.
