1.
Haha, the reason for me having a D300s? It was a gift.
Otherwise,I'd still be shooting with my D200,hahah.

Thanks for the input Richard,I'll most likely be using my sb-600 with an omni bounce.

 2.
I do know all the requirements to jumping over onto full frame such as having non-dx lenses so I won't be getting the cropped view and such.
Also, what I mean by "149K left on the shutter " is basically what Shun said.
And that got me thinking, the d700 has been out for quite a while now and that its going under a face lift soon.
I am starting to do a lot of weddings so its only practical that I'd be considering the jump to full frame because of the noise control, but I also do have a flash. The next wedding I have to shoot is soon and I'm getting nervous, (Reception starts at 7 at night, yikes!)
Even though it is extremely temping to do the switch,I might just sit it out till a refresh of the D700,even though I really don't like being the person with "latest!" gear. : /

 3.
I'm trying to make the big jump from DX to FX by selling my Nikon D300s.
I just got an offer from a sports photographer who is shooting with a D700 to trade me.
So,my question to you guys is how much would a slightly used D300s with 149K left on the shutter compare in value to a D700 with 120k left on the shutter?

I understand either way I'm going to be throwing some money in,its just I would like to see how much.

 4.
I'm having the same problem with my Capture nx 2 not reading my nef files.

I installed the nef codecs, transfer and I'm running on capture nx 2 v2.2.
When they are imported to a folder I can see the thumbnails of the nef files but when I try to open them in NX 2 it gives me the warning and says it cannot load the file.

I'm running on vista 32 bit and any help is appreciated, thanks!

 5.
I was set on Focus priority for continuous servo - AF, I just tried release and release + focus and it did the trick.
And thank you very much for the answeres, helped a lot! : )
As fr the lenses, how are tokina's in term of build and quality?
I've held the Sigma 10-20mm and its built like a tank.

So far loving my D300s,the shutter noise is so rewarding.

 6.
So,I recently got my Nikon D300s (Today actually).

And I must say I'm extremely pleased/impressed with it, coming from canon's side everything was backwards for me and took some adjusting...Especially the light meter.

Anywho,I just had a quick question.
In continuous servo- AF I can't help but feel that when I have it on 7 FPS shooting it goes a bit sluggish,is it because of the constant focusing that bogs it down? And if so,is there anyway to boost it back up?

Also,I've been looking at a wide angle for my Nikon and saw the Sigma 10-20mm. Was wondering if anyone owns one and how it performs, I've seen a lot of test shots and I enjoy it,but I still would enjoy anyones feedback on it. Or even recommendation for other wide angles.

...I'm loving October so far,new camera and I turn 21 soon.

Cheers.

 7.
Joe A, My overall budget for my new camera is roughly around 3,500.

The nikkors I plan on getting with my d700 are the 50mm 1.4 and the 18-35mm f3.5/4.5.
Since I tend to do more portraits/action/show photography I figure those two would be a good start before I drop a more money into higher end nikkors.

But also,I might start on macro photography soon as well.

Lol,and Gary. I already made up my mind in a previous post. But thanks for your input.

 8.
Ah thank you so much for the responses everyone! : D

And I got a chance to play with my friends d200 and i did find that it was hunting quite a bit on flat surfaces and what not. The noise reduction wasn't as great as the d300/d700 which is my major reason to buying a d700 for the low noise at higher iso's. (I shoot a lot of concert/show pictures)

Of course,MP isn't a huge factor for me since I'm not printing posters and the 8 FPS is a nice addition since I enjoy shooting sport photography.

Now the wait begins...by my calculations I'll have a d700 by october. : )
Its going to be worth the wait!

 9.
Thanks a lot for the response everyone.
I was looking at it quite extensively and I think I might go with Nikon due to the fact that the 51 af system caught my attention since I do a variety of shooting.

And as for lenses I'm going for more wide angle/regular zoom,

On top of that another curve ball was thrown my way,a friend of mine just offered to sell me his d200 for roughly around 500 or so.
And being the first time I've shot a Nikon in forever, should I take the bait and go with the d200 as an introduction into the d700? Or just dive head first into the d700?

I have tested both the 5d MK II and d700,holding it and such, I'm not going to lie, I enjoy the Nikon feel better...Feels like I could knock someone unconscious with it and still take pictures afterwards. : )

 10.
Hey guys. So here's the break down. : )

I've been shooting with canon for 4 years now,and i feel its time to make the jump to full frame or the jump across the line to nikon.
Heres the catch, with my 30d I've already sold most of my lenses to a few of my friends who use them more than I do.
So with that in mind its a level playing field for canon or nikon.

I've been doing research on both and I can't find any complaints between the two besides the fact that Nikon's lenses are a little more pricey and canon has ones that are cheap yet perform extremely well.
But the one thing that turned me onto nikon was the 51 point focusing system as well as its performance in low light with higher isos (wow!).

So im on the fence to get either or. I just need some help.

If possible for people who own the bodies to give me their feedback on it and some test shots? : ) Be much appreciated

 11.
Thanks for the reply!
And I was going to say,a 50/60 dollar price difference makes the world of a difference to me knowing that I'm going to get it new and all the wear and tear put on it is done by me.

But does anyone know how the print quality is on matte/semi glossy?
I saw a video on the glossy prints,it looks stunning, but I tend to lean more on the matte side of printing.

 12.
So first of all,I'm fairly new to the digital printers and whats good and bad ,etc.

But I've been scanning forums and such for printers and comparing them

From what I hear epson's are usually the way to go.

So I have this...

I have a deal on craigslist with a guy who is selling an Epson r1800 for around 300 dollars.
With extra ink sets and paper.
But that being said he has had the printer for a year and half and has only used it for a class.
That being said he will only meet out in public which eliminates the chance for me to test it out and such.

On the other hand I could get my hands on a R1900 for roughly around 350 new.
And obviously being the bigger brother to the r1800 I read that the r1900 has some fixed issues and tweaks etc.

So my question to you guys as a beginner in the digital dark room is the comparison and personal preference between the two.

And which one you would recommend to a beginner/amateur at printing (but not at photography in general). Baha.
I admit I don't know anything about printers, but I am savvy in photoshop and what not. So I'm not a complete noob. :)

Thanks in advance.
