I am new to lighting so I just bought this lighting kit: http://photobasics.net/details.cfm?id=2
I wonder whether it was worth it or I should have just bought 2 strobes, umbrellas, stands, and etcetera separately.
These are the specs.

Watt Seconds = 150

Guide Number = 39-mtrs/117ft

Recycle Time = 2 sec.

Flash Duration = 1 ~ 3 m/secs

Flash Variability = 1/4 to full

Color Temperature = 5600K (+-100)

User Changeable Flash Tube = yes

Changeable Reflector = yes

Model Light Wattage = 100

Model Light Variable = Yes

Flash Ready Indicator = Charge Ready Light/Audible Beep

Built in Slave = Yes

Fan Cooled = No

Sync Size = 1/8"

Housing = high-impact poly carbonate

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
Zoom lens for portraiture?
in Portraits & Fashion
Posted

Hi! I am looking to buy a new zoom lens for portraiture. I have heard that zoom lenses are not good for portraits, but I was having a difficult time composing full body shots with fixed focal lengths of 50mm and 105mm. My Canon 50mm 1.4's autofocus is terrible and I need a new lens. The problem is, I don't know what to buy! Should I forget zoom lenses and just buy another 50mm?
In essence, I need the ideal lens for portraiture for a canon camera.
Thanks for the help.
