Nice shot Brendan, I took some from the North Sydney side looking at the bridge, will post some time. The colours are great as is that reflection on the water.

Hi Brendan, lovely image. I particularly like the cool colour tones, contrasting with the warmth from the rising sun. Lovely serene scene with that slow shutter speed, greatly simplifying the image by removing all movement from the water.

Nice one Andrew, the light has been well handled, although the nd filters have blackened the headland on the right, unavoidable unless you do a blend of a couple of images. The rocks make interesting diagonal shapes and the capture of the wave splash adds a little extra to the image. I like the choice of shutter speed, it has slowed the water down but has retained enough detail to convey movement.

Nice to see the master back at his seascape work best. Beautiful image Glen, I like the lines leading me in to the image and the long exposure makes the ocean look like silk.

Thanks for the comments. The glow coming up was from the white sand underwater, no lights. The image was actually taken in the middle of the day with a 10 stop filter to slow the shutter speed and soften the water.

Thanks for taking a look.

Thanks everybody. Philip I agree with the central horizon. I am usually not a fan of central horizons but I thought that it actually worked with this one.

After a few days of much needed rain in Sydney I finally ventured out
this morning, and what a morning it was. Beautiful dramatic skies and
a lovely glow of the approaching day.
Thanks for taking the time to look.

Beautiful light and tones in the image, the birds appear to have been cooperative too and add some nice interest to the beautiful scene.

Beautiful image, lots of strong diagonal lines leading in to the image and the composition looks balanced to me, the canoes seem to balance out the dark cliff on the left hand side. Exposure has been well handled with good detail not only in the bright areas but also in those dark areas on the left. Only critical comment that I can offer is that the canoe on the right is very close to the edge of the image, I probably would have preferred a little bit of space separating it from the edge of the image, but its a pretty minor issue in an otherwise wonderful image.

All comments appreciated, many thanks for looking.

Great shot Andrew, the clouds look like they are on fire.

Thanks for looking, all and any opinions appreciated, don't be afraid
to be critical, its how I learn.

The Sydney opera house as you've never seen it. Gone were the
gleaming white sails against a blue sky and replaced by an orange sky
and red dust everywhere. A once in a lifetime photo opportunity for me I
think. Thanks for looking.

One of my images from the incredible dust storm in Sydney. Thanks for
looking all comments appreciated. Shot is straight out of the camera,
with a scene like this there was nothing more to do with it.
-
ha ha, thanks Glen. Must be spending too much time in the concrete jungle, have forgotten what colours nature can offer up.
-
Thanks Brian. The conditions were pretty incredible, as was the amount of dust on the camera after shooting it.

Taken early this morning, just after sunrise in the incredible light of a
rare sandstorm in Sydney

Hi Glen, take it you guys are back from your trip, hope it went well. As far as this image goes, I like the composition, the shapes and the foreground rocks work well and the low lighting angle on the shot is great. Only thing I am not sure about is the colour rendition. (By the way, took the plunge and went for an Eizo). To me the colour on the foreground slope looks a bit too saturated for my liking. Could just be a personal taste thing of course but I'd prefer it a touch more muted.
Looking forwared to seeing more of the images from your trip.

Hi Brendan, thanks for the comment. Can't remember the tide but from memory it must have been pretty low. I have been there at high tide once and all those foreground rocks were just covered so not nearly as nice.

Beautiful image, I really like the composition, the diagonal lines all lead my eye into the image and invite me to explore it. The foreground rock is well balanced with the rest of the composition and breaks up the symmetry, adding interest. The image has been well captured and the processing of the image is sensational, great tones and pin sharp. Well done.
