Does the lens flare work for or against this image? The sun was about

60' behind the subject. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Thank you, MIke. I deliberately slightly overexposed the highlights to (1) wash out the wrinkled mess while retaining detail and (2) to retain the nice skintone color. And I thought it gives the picture a certain pleasing luminence.

Eerie...ghostly...with sadness of remembering the times gone by. Reminds me of being a child again with my parents and the impossibility of it. Quite a powerful image, in my opinion. Thank you.
  1. I love the composition, her expression, hair and hand placement! Wondering how come the leaves and flower that she's holding, extending slightly to her left breast is brighter than the rest? Was it made lighter on purpose to highlight something? I think that if the white dress, flowers and leaves are a bit brighter (make them to be whiter and greener, respectively), it would make the picture more 3-dimensional.

    My 2 cents.

  2. Hi. I think:

    1. Composition and framing is great

    2. This shot would work better with greater depth of field so that the picture is sharp throughout. I see that focus is tack sharp on the baby's eyes, but the man's closed eye all the way to his elbow and hand are soft. I would prefer that the father is also entirely sharp because they both are the main subject of the picture, not only the baby.

    3. I'm not sure if it is underexposed or not. If the photo is faithful to their natural skin colors to your eyes, then it's not technically underexposed. But I agree that perhaps a slightly more exposure would result in a more pleasing skin tones for the baby and the father. As it is, the baby looks a bit "raw".

    4. Lack head and hair details / definition. A soft light coming from above and/or behind the subjects would help with their definition against the pitch black background.

    My 2 cents.

lens used. Your comment is appreciated.
