  1. When I come across a photo like this, I usually visit the photographer's portfolio to be able to get a bearing as to the capabilities of the photographer.

Comparing this with the rest of the works produced by this photographer I cannot but wonder why this photo was taken in the first place.

I am sorry but this does not work for me at all, especially that I have seen the high quality work produced by this photographer.

Beautiful soft light, relaxed pose and good overall composition and perspective.

I personally like the look in the model's eyes, she is very attractive and does not look annoyed or bored.

She is well posed and looks very natural, well done, a good nude.

Regarding sharpness, this is something that will come up from time to time.

First of all the image is much larger than what can be seen here. and I usaully put in an action i have on photoshop, which acts as if a soft focus filter was used.  it has various strengths and is best suited for 12inch prints or larger.

Unfortunately here it is working against me.

    Thanks for your comments.

My camera is a 10 mega pixel and i try to waste as little as possible. Each photo i shoot i aim for maximum enlarging.

Having said that, i often shoot that way, giving the impression the model is just coming into the scene or slipping out. Depends on what i would be thinking at the time.

    Everybody, thanks for your comments.

I think she was 15 when she came for that session, and her mum was keeping an eye on things.

So you can immagine my situation.

This is a good nude study complimented by the background which though quite colourful does not take away the nude's beauty.

the snow bothers me just a bit, and so does the tree on the model's left side. It seems to be competing with the model's shape.

This could be intentional to show the model emerging from the surrounding cold forest.

for the sake of detail i would reconsider the pubic region which is too obvious.

i have seen this photographer's portfolio and i must congratulate her as she is a very capable artist.

yet when i see this photo, i find it does not deliver any message and leaves an empty feeling. it leaves me without any emotions.

it seems to hint at an erotic sequence, yet it does not captivate me.

i would have liked to have a title for this photo or know the photographer's intentions, maybe that would have been of more help.

as it is this photo looks like a grab shot from a press assignment...and maybe that is what the photographer intended.

i would like to excuse myself with the author of this photo but i get a negative felling from this shot.

the light is too harsh. when one trives for high key the background must be treated as such, so a white background would be essential.

the pose is not so strong and i get the impression the girl is about to topple over.

when one compares curves, the guitar wins over the model.

forgive me for my critique....but it is important that one decides which way he/she wants to go.

more light might have spoilt the overall effect. the photo depicts a nude in a situation that is personal to her. the lighting quality makes this photo appear very intimate while more light would be an attempt to turn it into a glamour shot, which in my opinion this is not.

as i always say nude photography is not easy and one must have a clear vision what one is aiming for.

here the lighting or lack of it is just right to give the mood.

light and how we control it is the key to a successful nude photo.

and we must bear in mind that we are dealing with people and the success of a photo is not how much we show but how we show it.

this is a very good shot except that it looks a bit staged.

i am not too keen on the exagerated pose and the light is a bit too harsh.

one big No No is the right hand squashing the right breast.

it makes it look very unflattering. this is a common occurance.

when directing a model i am usually very blunt and use straightforward language, and i would point that out immediately.

during such shoots i am constantly talking to the girl and directing while pointing out things i see as unflattering or out of place

this is my opinion, maybe someone else may not agree

otherwise the photo is a step in the right direction

  2. the pose is good and even the overall treatment, however i notice some washed out areas which pop out starkly from the rest of the of the general tonality.

these are most evident in the background, the model's face and her chest.

with digital this gives an inpleasant feel to the picture. go soft  and play around with the light

nice study but the cloth cuts the body in half, hadit been placed in one hand and left to drag along i think it would have made a better photo.

everything else is ok, at least i find it pleasing though more attention to form and angle of the body would have helped extremely.

still a good job in regards to exposure and tonality
