A nicely posed picture, but a little too perfect. With no people, it seems a little posed, or contrived. Nevertheless, a well done photo.

One of the best lightning shots I have seen. You've caught the secondary strokes very well. -
It occurs to me that you might have been flying a two plane formation, So, if you had the same model aircraft as in your photo, you might have had a similar vapor shock wave at the rear of your plane. If so, could you have seen it?
Do you estimate his speed was subsonic, sonic, or supersonic?

and unable to give permission, or even to know, that you are taking his photograph.
