  1. Hi,

I once visited a web page where the owner listed his experience with different 50mm lenses (for 35mm SLR / rangefinders). It has no MTF-graphs or other things like that - just his opinions. The most importent was that all 50mm lenses are good. Does anyone know what page this is. Yes - I should have bookmarked it !

    TIA

    Amund

  2. Ansel Adams "The Camera" is a basic introducion book (not a "for dummies" book) that covers everything about cameras. From hand held 35mm P&S to large format cameras you need a horse to carry around.

He also writes about hand-held vs. tripod photography, camera movement , exposure, lenses, metering. If you should have one book about cameras, this is the one. It doesn't cover advanced built-in light metering and all the bells and whistles your F5 or 1V-HS has. It was written long before all these toys came on the market. What it does cover is all you need to know about a camera. If it ain't covered, it ain't worth knowing :)

I know most of the things that stands in the book, but keep picking it from my bookshelf. It is simply one of the best books about photography I have ever read together with "the negative" and "the pring", also by AA.

The book is superbly illustrated with some of Adams excelent pictures.

It is so beatiful that it serves as a coffe-table book. It gives you everyting: a beatiful book to show your friends and a never-ending source of learning.
