  1. Digital enhancing and imaging are with us to stay. Although I do very much agree with Howard's response, I am cynical enough to think that the industry response will be that suggested by Mark. Just think how much "deception" is done in fashion photography under the guise of "improvement." The editors of the fashion magazines I have perused in the last several years do not even mention digital manipulation of the images. Since I do believe that it is with us to stay, I think that a notification of manipulation should be given - even if that is in a box on page 5.
  2. I went to the Tetons and Yellowstone the second week of October last year. Everything in Don's response is true - much to my pleasant surprise. People are very helpful and informative about sildlife sightings. With regard to fall colors, I arrived in the Tetons on October 6th and the aspen and ferns were just finishing their display; there were still some pockets of intense golden color twinkling in the breezes. Temperatures were in the 70's the three days I was there. I arrived in Yellowstone on the 9th of October and the only color was close to the ground. The entire time in Yellowstone (four days) it snowed. This supports the reports of how quickly the weather can change here. I don't know how this year will compare to last, but that was my experience.
  3. Debbie, you mention that Sensia II is marketed as a finer grain film than the regular Sensia. I was unaware of this. The Fujifilm Data Sheets list Astia as Ultrafine grain and resolution as 1.6:1 as 55 lines/mm and 1000:1 as 135 lines/mm. Provia is listed as Exceptionally fine grain with resolution of 60 lines/mm at 1.6:1 and 140 lines/mm at 1000:1. I realize that lines of resolution and grain are different and that the terms Ultrafine and Exceptionally fine are not defined, but these data suggest to me that Provia is very slightly better at resolving image detail than Astia. I, perhaps wrongly, assume that the same apply to Sensia and Sensia II. Please help educate me if I am misinterpreting this.
  4. I think that this site is tastefully and judiciously monitored. There is a difference in personality between the Nature Q&A and the Original one but that, for better or worse, is as it should be IMO. I can only imagine that your reiteration of the rules was prompted by something written, but I think that the criterion that you write, as demonstrated throughout this site, is right on. Thank you!
