  1. I have more Rolleiflex'es than I can wear out - I also use Blad and Pentax for chromes because of their multi-coated lenses, more sophisticated meters, and they are better for tripod work.

The Rolleiflexes are for handheld work, and for this reason I now use them for highspeed negatives for better handholding speeds and film latitudes. I just get them developed rather than printed.

I scan my negatives with an old Epson 3200 at 1800dpi (do it at 2400dpi is OK, but there is no significant gain from going to 3200dpi). The software I use is either Vuescan or Silverfast. I can get the scans develop to 4R or 6R, and then crop it into squares. They look beautiful (you don't have to worry about grain even for NPZ 800).

Plus I know I have the negatives for blowups of supershots.

I think the new Epson scanners have even better scan speeds, detail and ICE.

  2. I found this at the back of a magazine. She did not tell me about her jobs. It is kinda odd reading magazines / newspapers and sometimes finding one's gf pix featured in different commercials - including a bust enlarger one!<div>009H9d-19339584.jpg.f2ffc29c2ea9f7eb7f76ddce41b4afad.jpg</div>

Some of the above responses give excellent advice about the relative merits of different VF's.

However, if you are not too sure about glasses etc, Leica has recently given us a compromise solution, the 1.25x magnifier.

It now makes sense to get a .58 for better 35 or even 28 framelines, then you can install the magnifier for .72 magnification for 50mm or 90mm coverage.

The 100mm range macro will become a 150mm lens with the D100.

I would not recommend getting the G lenses. Although they have a smaller zoom factor than your 28-200, the improvement would not be as substantial as going directly to prime lenses that are comparable to your 50mm in terms of quality. You would be even more encumbered and still limited by the small apertures, and you cannot use them if you want to shoot film with your FM.

Without knowing too much of your shooting preferences, except for your interest in macro, I would suggest that you consider:

    (1)the excellent 60mm F2.8 as a possible replacement for your present 100mm. This will become a 90 F2.8 on your D100.

    (2) the reasonably priced 18-35mm, since the short end of your current zoom will become a 42mm with the D100. The 18mm-35mm will let you experience with genuine ultrawide perspectives on your FM, as well as giving you again 28mm perspective on your D100.
