1.
Hi Alf, your posts here & there about this lens and your conversion work helped provide the inspiration for my own attempts - three so far to EOS mount and three more waiting. I've sold two and kept one that is on my old 10D all the time. I agree with most of your comments above.
There is significant halation wide open that can be used to great effect for portraits, flowers and some landscapes, etc, but in low light my lens appears really nice and sharp wide open. Of course stopped down its a real beauty.
The light collecting capacity is mind-boggling. This photo of a Green Tree Frog on my 365 blog was taken in darkness with just a little wind-up torch for light. (I would say most of the photos on Tweed365 are taken with the FL.)
And the price! They can be bought for $200. There is also a plethora of FL/FD adapters for 4/3 format as well. What fun!

 2.
I've converted two of these to EOS mount so far (with another three on the way). Some of the photos taken with them on my two 10Ds are here:
It is a pretty soft animal OOF at 1.2 - really great for babies, some portraits and flowers.
The light collecting ability is incredible. In the gallery linked above there's a photo of a theatre ceiling backstage, with the ropes, - it seriously was dark, but wow, doesn't look like it at all. On many occasions the light-collecting capacity of this lens wide open has left me staggered. For example photographing a car under cover, and the inside of it looks lit!
Stopped down its a beauty, as you would expect.

 3.
If you have found this thread while looking for the 10D Digitial Solutions disc, you can find it here: http://scottmacraecollingwood.com/Canon%2010D/
I was without this software for some time and found it very inconvenient not being able to connect my 10D to my PC. The backup 10D I bought came with a disc, so I've uploaded the .iso file for discerning EOS users to download and burn to CD.

00WQvc-243101684.jpg.5318204b22f4aeb46a017e060312b9a5.jpg

 4.
Old thread, but..... I have a Tokina 20-35mm 3.5-4.5 on my old EOS 10D - picked up the lens for a bargain at auction and thought it must have been a cheapo until i started looking at the photos, lol. Bit of luck there. Its a bit of a beaut!

 5.
I've bought two of these from ebay for my 10D, and while one of them holds my 50mm 1.4 on AOK, the other rattles - the looseness is between the adaptor and the lens so its not the Zuiko S 35-70 that's at fault. Besides rattling it also lets light in and spoils the exposure. Grrrrr. I'm thinking to glue it, after painting the relevant parts of the adapter flat black...
Does anyone else have this problem? Has anyone solved it?

 6.
Well I'm with Brian - this lens is fun!
I got it off of Ebay for about A$100 all-up. - it is yet another part of what is becoming a fairly extensive m42 Takumar collection. It is, imho, by far the funnest lens of the lot . . but maybe thats just my photographic inclination manifesting...
A few more pics from it are here:
7.
Erk, woops. this lens is a bit of a pig. Very heavy , cumbersome is the word. And it doesn't help that some genius has taken it apart and reassembeled it with the distance markings out of whack. Anyway,
The image quality is fine, though. I'll get behind it over the coming weekend and post some shots.
Joe, I guess I'm looking for a manual/spec sheet too, so I can try to figure out how to put this thing back together properly.
I'm sticking to Takumar primes.

 8.
I have gaps too - and 'need' a macro and a 28/35mm, but will try to make do with what I have now rather than run the risk of (further) spoiling the relationship with my girlfriend due to 'super multi coated' selfishness.
Thanks for the heads-up. Good luck, Richard.

 9.
The SuperTak 50/1.4 works like a charm on my old 10D .. in fact, many of the lenses marked orange on the panoramaplanet.de link that Bob posted above work just fine on the 10D - no interference witht he mirror.
That doesn't help you though, Peter, sorry. However, if you have any Taks you'd like to sell, please contact me.

 10.
Sam, I'm in the same boat.

I use a EOS 10D & grip with a wide variety of manual lenses including old Takumars, OM Zuikos, and a couple of Zeiss lenses + some others. I also bought a new Tamron 11-18 for A$500 or so, a couple of Nissin Speedlite flash units and a good tripod.

The learning curve has been a lot of fun.

I agree with Colin, Elliot and Dan. It's mostly all about the lenses. In sound its all about the microphone - in photography the lens is the key point. I'd personally recommend most m42 Takumars, though my current fave is an old Russian - the 58mm Helios 44-2.... beautiful!
Before that it was a Tele-Takumar 300mm 6.3 - outstanding!
& before that a Super-Tak 50mm 1.4 - haha, a joy to use. .....
and before that a OM Zuiko 50mm 1.8 - just superb......and so on......
Enjoy!

 11.
I just received one in 'as new' condition... and just added its first scratch trying to put the tripod ring on it.
It's humungous! And very cool - the aperture is like butter, focusing is takumar smooth and its look good so far - night fell before i could test it out much.. I'll add some pics here tomorrow.

Let me know if you've actually used this lens - no 'back seat' commentators, please.

The below photo is wide open, unedited from raw, just shrunk to 20%. I ran out and just had time to (almost) focus.....

00UQFR-170517684.jpg.e575bb0ab04064b9602352d6a553959c.jpg
