1. I reach for my gun whenever I hear the word "snapshot". The same people

denigrating Alex Webb here probably have only seen a few crappy jpeg's on

the web and have never seen his work in person, his books, or his stuff for

National Geographic, yet they feel qualified to judge. How would *you* like to

be judged based on jpeg's whose quality and size you have no control over?

Webb's work is pretty consistently dynamic, challenging, and engaging, which

    is pretty rare these days.

  2. This isn't a *moral* issue. I sold my M6 and now use an RF because it simply

works better for me. I successfully use all of my Leitz lenses on this body with

excellent results. All this argument about Konica doing something wrong is

just baloney. Konica and Cosina are helping to keep the Leica M system

viable by creating a larger market for M glass. They're doing it legally, at an

excellent value, and offering a unique camera.

If Leitz is suffering financially, it isn't because of the impact of Konica or

Cosina but because of their lack of innovation and the high cost of their

lenses. This is to say nothing of their total lack of meaningful digital

    involvement.

Anyway, I'll keep buying Leitz glass but will hold off on an M body until they

deliver the features that I'm looking for (and the M7 is close.) In the meantime,

    the RF is great.

    Great balanced review, Skip.

  3. In my case, it seems to be an issue with individual lenses rather

than a particular Konica/Leica problem. I can't say this with

100% accuracy, as I sold my m6 body awhile ago, but what I can

say is that some lenses seem to behave with minute variations

    when focussing to infinity.

50mm/f2 Hexanon -- focus at infinity is 100% accurate

75mm/f1.4 Summilux -- focus goes slightly beyond infinity

50mm/f2.8 Elmar -- focus goes slightly beyond infinity

35mm/f2 Summicron ASPH -- focus at infinity is 100% accurate

25mm/f4 Voitlander -- not applicable as it's not coupled

135 Hektor -- focus at infinity is 100% accurate

The good news is that even at close distances with the 75

Summilux wide open the focus seems to be dead on when

viewing the photographs. All of the other lenses also show very

accurate focussing and I'm very, very picky and shoot wide open

    with complete confidence.
