1.
Should have measured the lens before getting the filter.
The serial number on the lens is 2199853.
Looked on this site and lens is 1966.
Site with serials below.
http://www.forloren.dk/lbf/leica_lens_serial.htm
Other places I 've checked says it uses series IV drop in.
I've got a Leica 55mm polarizer, has anyone used a step up ring?
If you have, please let me know where I can get one.

ple

w

 2.
Something more to ponder, and I'm sharing this
because buying a scanner was an agonizing decision for me.
What decided me was paying $5 for a scan of a slide, an ektachrome
that I've tried scanning as well, and I guess the exposure was bad
because I couldn't get a decent scan either. Figure a buck or so a slide unless
it gets shipped to Vietnam or some place like that, from what I've read.
I'm shooting some film, got the best I have ever owned in 35mm, so it's a real plus
to scan those negs in.
The negatives are ,time, which is no big deal for me I sit and scan, instead
of watching tv.
Other negative is, and I don't know if it's just me, but going over old slides
and pictures, where it's family, deceased, becomes difficult.

 3.
New scanner owner.
Scanning slides at 2900dpi on the Nikon coolscan IV.
Got it to post pics here, and copy some slides.
Thoughts so far:
You must buy Nikon that has digital ice,ROC and GEM.
I'll post a composite 40 year old faded ektachrome with and without.
(just figured out how to get pic to post on here)
Need fast computer, I recycled a discarded P4, 3 GHZ, with 1GB of RAM and
I'm going to install the other 1GB soon.
Grain shows up at 2900dpi with cn400bw b&w film.

 4.
I can post picture to no words, but
having problem on the w/nw posting
in the leica/rangefinders forum.
Do I have to hot the picture on
something like flickr?
Tried uploading before and the text I
typed in the box showed up
but there was no picture after I
followed he direction to upload picture.

 5.
If you're gonna get one, better do it soon.
They're moving fast on the auction
site. I lucked out on a IV ED.
I built a system to run it from a discarded pentium 4
pc, 3 ghz chip, and have one gb of ram in it,
and most likely will install the second gig.
Pshop really runs fast too, it's a pleasure
to play around on it, since
it now boots up in 4 seconds !

 6.
I've been using the wife's Lumix with
Leica lens. On a tripod, it is unbelievably sharp.
Helps to pre-visualize a shot and besides you
get a decent image to photoshop.
It's like using a polaroid in a way.
Then shoot some film.
Just got a scanner IV ED, so
I'm very anxious to get it hooked up !

 7.
Thanks for the offer Jerry, but
I do have the lenshood.
I can live with a used filter, as long
as it's not beat up bad.
saw a couple on the auction site.
David, good info thanks.
Pretty hard to forget that word, einschraubfilter.
I feel like calling up a local camera store
just to ask them if they carry one.

 8.
Read the online Leicaflex manual and
then tried a web search, and still
unsure as to which 55 it uses.
It's the E55 for a 3 cam summicron 50mm f2 lens?
I'd like to get a yellow filter
since I'm getting good detail in the shadow
parts of my negatives (bw400cn) but no clouds or sky detail.
Never shot any black and white so alot of this
filter thing is new to me.

 9.
..got to shoot a little.
Would like to know how to insert photo in thread.
Also, only scanning that I've found nearby
is noritsu machine and maybe 950 dpi.
I don't know how to tell the lab how to set the machine
to get better dpi, and it may be that the lab personnel
don't know how to bump up the dpi or if it's possible.
Easier to just get scanner and not waste energy with
the lab personnel.
Opinion needed Nikon coolscan IV or Konica minolta scan dual IV.

One picture in no words best friends and one in lamposts.
