  1. My contract states (among other things):

"Upon signature, (Your Studio Name Here) reserves the time and date agreed upon. For this reason, all deposits are non-refundable, even if the date is changed or the wedding is canceled for any reason. To secure your wedding date, (Your Studio Name Here) requires a $0,000.00 non-refundable deposit due when this agreement is executed.

In any proceeding to enforce any part of this Agreement, (Your Studio Name Here) shall be entitled to reasonable attorney?s fees in addition to any available remedy"

I think the second line concerning attorney?s fees brings the problem to a screeching halt when they realize that they will be responsible for the price of my lawyer too.

I was contacted by the lawyer of a bride several years ago wanting me to fax a copy of the contract to them. When I told the lawyer that I was represented by council and gave her my attorney?s name I never heard another word.

  2. Thank You One & All! Maybe I should clarify myself here a bit. I've been a wedding photographer for over 35 years. I've been using Rollei SLR's for the last 12 years or so. NPH and a Metz CT-4 on location. NPS here in the studio with studio strobes. I've been taking baby steps toward digital for the last couple of years by having my lab scan the negs and using the digital images. It's just gotten to the point where the film & processing costs are killing me and thus the S3 purchase. As everyone knows you can get away with murder concerning exposure on negative film but as I understand you have to really nail the exposures with digital. This is what prompted me to ask the "Gary Fong" question in the first place. Ultimately my lab is going to color balance these for printing anyway so maybe I'm overdoing this?

    Thanks!

    Paul

  3. Hi Everyone!

I?ve been a medium format guy up to this point and just purchased a Fuji S3. I

read somewhere that Gary Fong experimented with the S3 and came up with his

favorite settings for use at weddings. Does anyone know where I can find

these? Any other advise would be appreciated as well. BTW ? I also purchased

    an SB800 and a Nikkor 24-120 VR-G.

    Thanks in advance!

  4. I would take a STRONG look at a Rollei SLX. You get built in winder,

meter, DOF preview button, German optics along with both 120 and 220

film capability. Hadley Chamberlain shows one on his web site with

    an 80/2.8 HFT Plannar and a charger (Exc.+++) for $695.00. He's at

    www.HECPHOTO.com

  5. Just as information... Hadley Chamberlain has a new website up and

running primarily for Rollei but there are some Fuji, Contax and

Noblex listings too. He shows a lot of "hard to find" items and I

can vouch for his honesty and reliability as I have been doing

business with him for years. He is at www.hecphoto.com

  6. I have just received a new list of Rollei equipment available from Hadley Chamberlain. He tells me that he will be happy to E-mail his list to anyone that is interested. I have been doing business with him for years and have found him to be 100% reliable. I have also communicated with other photographers from around the world concerning Hadley and have never heard a bad word about him. I can recommend him without reservation. He stands behind what he sells. His list is very extensive (I think that mine goes 8 or 9 pages) and is quite a bonus for anyone looking for a reliable source of nice, clean used Rollei 6000, SL66, TLR and/or 35mm. You can contact him at: HEChamberl@aol.com

    Thanks!, Paul

  7. I second the response from Jerry Head. I would only add that we have been using one or two rolls of Kodak PMZ 120 for available light shots during the ceremony so as not to disturb the procedings with flash. The Fuji NPH is a much better film (we shoot it @ ASA 320) but the extra speed of the PMZ for available light is handy. (we shoot it at the rated 1000 ASA)
  8. I use Rollie SLR's in my work everyday and love them. I started with a 6006II and worked it to death for a couple of years. I traded up to a 6008 Pro a few months ago for the added features. The only 'reliability' problem (if you want to call it that) I've run into is making sure that I have an adequately charged battery...for that reason I carry a spare in a nifty little Zing pouch on my belt. The guy that I work with uses a Blad that's in the shop as much as not. He had to barrow my backup camera (SLX) at the last wedding because it died again! I'm not rich and my solution to that has been to purchase top quality used equipment through Hadley Chamberlain. I've been dealing with him for years and every transaction is a pleasure. He is extremely honest and knowledgeable. I've had exchanges with literally dozens of people from all over the world about Hadley and have never heard a bad word about him. At this point the 6008i is new enough that there aren't a lot of used ones around...and I'd like to give Rollei time to work the bugs out of it. The only feature difference that I might make use of on the Integral is balanced fill flash anyway. Depending on your needs (and budget) you might even consider a 6006II. I don't claim to be an expert but I work my Rollies harder in a few months than most photographers would over the course of years...and I take care of them because they help me earn a living. I've grown accustom to eating three times a day and sleeping indoors! I posted a note several months ago about my dealings with Hadley in the 'Neighbor to Neighbor' section of Photo.net that you might want to look at. Thanks for the time and best of luck!
  9. It depends on the distance and film speed you plan on using. In general the Metz 45 is more than enough but if you intend to shoot weddings or anything that involves long distances then the extra power of the 60CT is nice. Not being teathered to that battery pack is the major advantage of the 45 IMO. I do a bunch of weddings and carrying that thing gets old. If you opt for the 45 get a couple of NiCad packs.
