    Nostalgia for the old camera store?

    <p>I wish i had a good old camera store near me (Perth, Australia). I recently inherited a Canon FT. I visted two stores, one was a film processor (Rabbit Photo) and the other sold more cameras, but both only had about three types of film for sale, mostly Fuji 400 stuff. Im thinkin I should stock up because it might not be there next time.</p>

    <p>Thanks guys, its good to know the camera is still good to go. Im having a look Fred Parkers site right, it is very helpful. I've also thought it to be more fun operating the camera myself rather than having a computer do it all.<br>

    I'll keep you posted on how it goes and put up a few shots once they're developed.</p>

    <p>I have just inherited my first real camera, a Canon FT (not FTb) and am having trouble finding a compatable mercury battery for the light meter, obviously. So instead of trying one of the alternative batteries, my question is, is the light meter actually necessary in the functioning of this camera? Can i take shots without it?</p>
