Movie mode is not an attraction for me. The only reason I would go for the 60D is the articulating LCD screen, that is a huge plus in my books.

[since anything that resists uninstallation, as Yahoo Toolbar does, is by definition a virus.]

I agree with Rob Bernhard.
Michael, by your definition the operating system is a virus as are most of the system critical components.
VLC is great, if you really want to media player you can download the k-lite codecs which do a reasonable job for most file formats. The up side to using them is you get to be able to edit a whole lot of fomats in Windows Movie Maker :)

I use the Olympus 8000. A friend has one which we strapped to a kite, needless to say the kite crashed from a dizzying height and the camera survived.
It is waterproof to 10m, snow resistant to -10 c and drop resistant from 2m.
here is a video we took with it duct taped to the kite

I am not really good at explaining these things so hopefully you get the idea.
Just like windows, the Mac has a recycle bin. The difference is that the Mac stores each devices "trash can" on the actual device, so if you deleted any the pictures while the card was in the Mac they are stored in a hidden f0lder on the SD card. The Mac recognises this folder as being trash and ignores it. The camera however does not understand all this and just sees the card as having no space left.
A way to avoid this situation is to empty your trash while the SD card is still in the card reader in the Mac.
It is a good idea, however to regularly format the card in the camera.
Hope this helps.

Amir, you read my mind. A 18-200 f2.8 lIS USM would reeeaalllly be nice. I would pretty much pay any price for it but would demand a lens hood as well.

If you want a quality lens you have to be prepared to pay for it. You generally cannot compare an $850 lens to a $1700 lens.

On 'Ruin Porn' - exploitation in modern ruins photography

Unfortunately I did not read the whole article as my attention span is incredibly short. However. this Leary fellow seems think that every one thinks like he does (loser). I have seen many Ruin Porn series and love them. I don't care what happened or whatever he purports that everyone thinks, I just think it is a really cool area of photography with some amazing opportunities to express oneself. Sc$#( him is my honest opinion.
