1.
Ok, I've finally worked out what happened. Sorry for having wasted your time and I guess some of you are going to throw needles at a voodoo doll with my name on it!
Both my laptop and office pc have NX 1.3 because I was using my D300 at first, privately and professionally. Then, when the company bought the D300s I never bothered to upload NX 2 because we were only shooting jpegs (it's only last week that I finally convinced my boss of the qualities of RAW...) then time went by and of course I forgot to do it. Now, all I have to do is find the CD...
Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and again my apologies for the fuss.

 2.
Thanks to all for such prompt replies.
Well, I think this is just not right. So I can't even update my 1.3 version? I have to buy the whole new NX2? That doesn't seem fair. What is this? Planned Software obsolescence? And shouldn't the D300s be sold with the proper software to run it? I'm having some serious thoughts about buying Canon products next time...

 3.
Hi,
I shoot with both a D300 (my own) and a D300s (company). I have absolutely not problem reading NEF files coming out of my D300 with Capture NX (1.3) on either PCs but I cannot read them if shot with the D300s again on both computers. It seems that the operating system has nothing to do with it because I encounter the same issue with my office pc running on XP and my personal laptop that runs on W7. My feeling is that it's a camera setting and I've been going through the manual but can't find anything.
Anybody has any thoughts?
Thanks.

 4.
Hi, this is an old thread but I'll give a shot anyway.
I have the same issue but it's a little bit more complex. For me it seems that the operating system has nothing to do with it. I encounter the same issue with my office pc running on XP and my personal laptop that runs on W7. I shoot with both a D300 (my own) and a D300s (company). 5.
Hi Raymond,
First, a big thank you for developing that bit of software. Very, very helpful.
I'm testing it today for the first time with my D300. It's working fine but only in JPEG. I cannot preview .tif or .nef.
Am I doing something wrong? Have I missed something?
Thanks in advance
6.
Hi, I'm thinking about buying a LF view camera but I haven't used a one of those for almost 20 years and find myself somewhat lost and rusty.
I've found one on CL for $375 and below is what comes with the whole package. I would like the opinion of the more seasoned LF photographers out there on whether or not this is a decent deal. From what I understand, the camera is in good condition.
Kit:
body: cambo sc 4x5 (rotating back)
lens: schneider 210mm 5.6
+metal carrying case
+dark cloth
+four film holders
+shutter cable release.
Thank you in advance for your help.
7.
Hi, I use Multiple Exposure with great success (at least I'm getting what I want) when painting with light. However, I'm having very poor results when trying to use ME with strobes and white background. For instance lets say I want a mug to appear three times on the same image. So I take three shots moving the head of the tripod 1/3 each time. The result of the three captures is a very insipid image where it seems that each capture has only 50% opacity. Any ideas why?
Thanks.

 8.
Hi,
Recently, my D300 has been acting up. The auto-focus no longer beeps and I've lost the focus red squares in the viewfinder when I use the 51 points.
I have checked my settings in the menu and everything seems to be in order.
Has anyone else encountered these issues with a D300?
Thank you in advance.

 9.
Thanks Frank.
It's strange that I should have to change the settings on the D300s when I didn't have to do anything with my D300.
But I'll follow your advice and check on all the points your mention.
Thanks again.

 10.
Thanks William but the combo D300s and Microsync trigger shouldn't require a separate cable. It works 100% on my older D300 without a cable...
I was on the phone with B&H yesterday (from whom we bought the camera) and they confirmed that it should work right away as soon as you attach the receiver to the strobe and the trigger to the hot shoe. No changes in the camera setup should be required either.

 11.
Hi,
Our studio just purchased a D300s and a MicroSync trigger kit to work with a set of Adorama Flashpoint strobes. This is the same setup that I have for my freelance work and never had an issue with it.
The kit works perfectly when I test fire it as well as when I use on my old D300 but it won't fire the strobes from the hot shoe of the D300s.To make sure the hot shoe works I stuck my SB600 on it and it fired without a problem.
So: the MicroSync kit and the hot shoe work separately but won't fire once attached to each other.
Any idea what the problem is? I never had to do any changes to my settings on my D300 in order to work the trigger.
Thanks.
12.
Hi,
I apologize in advance in this question has appeared before in another forum.
I have an iMac calibrated with Eye-One Diagnostics and I would like to know how to calibrate my newly purchased printer (HP8550) in order to get prints that match perfectly what I have on my screen. Oddly enough sometimes the results are very close, other times they're way off (primarily with monochromatic color images where there is a strong value shift).
Thanks.

 13.
Hi,
I was recently offered a B8550 as a birthday present. Although I still have to find out how to calibrate it with the Mac (any ideas?) so far the results have been very good. Now, I'm not sure I would have chosen that one mostly due to it's restrictions in paper types. I want to print on watercolor papers and it doesn't look like it's possible. Has anyone tried?
I haven't done many prints yet but it seems that some bronzing occurs on certain images.
In the US the HP inks aren't too expensive but I'm not sure about the Vivera inks. I've never heard of them.
