I recently acquired an OLD Nikon MF 300 2.8. In trying to remove the

39mm filter from the holder to clean it, it chipped. Is the filter

part of the optics of the lens? I seem to remember reading that the

filter needed to be in place on my 500mm reflex. Will the 300 work

just as well without it? thanx

Anyone know of a way to fire an S1 or S2 by remote (I DON'T mean

connected to a computer)? I would like to use my Quantum radio

transmitter/receivers to fire the camera. There's probably a way to

use the plug that connects to a computer, but I don't want to

experiment too much. Thanks.

Does the gold ring (on the 180 2.8 for example) indicate ED glass? I

know the lenses are also marked ED following NIKKOR on the barrel.

I'd appreciate some f-a-s-t help on this one. thanx

I read somewhere recently of a couple large Nikon eyecups that can be

used on the Fuji S1, but now I can't find the reference. If anyone

has "borrowed" such an eyecup from a Nikon "step-sibling" camera, I'd

appreciate knowing what works. thanx

There have been several eBay listings from individuals in Europe

offering GREAT prices on D100 and S2 cameras. Is equipment cheaper

over there? Has anyone wired money to Amsterdam and received a camera?

Can anyone (speaking from first-hand experience, preferably) provide

Fuji tells me there is a hand/wrist strap that attaches there, but I don't know where else it attaches or where to get one. Anybody know?

The Fuji S1 has a "slot" at the bottom of the camera, on the right-

hand side (as the camera is held). What is this for? Is there some

type of alternate grip (ie, for vertical shooting)? I hope someone

knows. thanx
