1.
Hello,
I just purchased a Nikon 105mm 2.8 VR Micro lens and after playing with it for few minutes I realized something strange is going on. When I try to take a shot close to the subject (lets say several inches) any movement of the lens causes the aperture to change. For example, when I move few inches closer to the subject the aperture changes from f3 to f3.3 or 4.5 randomly even though the camera is in manual mode (I tried it in shutter priority as well as aperture priority with same results) Additionally, I am unable to shoot wide open when shooting Micro; the widest I was able to do was f3. I called Calumet and I was told that this is the nature of this particular "Beast" and that's caused by a extender inside the lens. But I have a hard time believing that story. Before I jumped to Nikon I used Canon 100 macro IS and I never had any such issues, it did not matter if I was shooting portraits one minute and the next I was shooting a spider web, when I set my aperture it never jumped around. I am only able to shoot wide open at f2.8 when the subject is several feet away from me, and by several I mean at least 10ft. Did anyone have similar experience? Is this normal? Either way I will turn in back tomorrow but I am not sure if I should get another one copy or not. Thanks in advance for all your help

  2.
Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone in our community had issues with aperture blades sticking or locking up on the 70-200 IS L lens? At first I thought it was the shutter on the camera body that I normally have this lens attached to; but after some testing I ruled that out because all three of my camera bodies showed identical signs (only with 70-200 lens non other). Simply, the camera locks up every 5- 20 (or so) frames and I have to recycle the power and turn it back on in order to keep shooting. Although I am not 100% positive the issue is related to aperture blades; I can't seem to find any other explanation that would yield similar results. I have not called Canon yet regarding this problem since it just began happing in the last few days. Did anyone had similar issues with their 70-200? I would appreciate any input. If yes, what was the cost of the repair. Best regards,

If the resolution of your images if too small for print of certain size, I would send it in as is. I disagree with the post above (Daniel) to upsize the image in PS. In order to do that, PS will create pixels by averaging surrounding pixels; in other words, it is coming up with information that is not present in your original image file. Usually the result looks less appealing than the original image printed in lower resolution. Additionally, I suggest you find an online lab to print your images; with Costco it does not matter if you have calibrated monitor or not, your images will still look bad. Hope it helps!
I am thinking of converting my S5 pro and after searching the net I decided I will go with Lifepixel. I called them up for a little chat and I was pleased with their response to my questions. Anyway, if you decide to go with them, use one of these savings codes: DEB ($20 off), Ricksammon ($20 off) and SISLEN (15% off on Feb 21 10-1:00pm only); I am still looking for more codes; I know they had a nice deal not long which amounted to 20% off which I would no mind considering the cost for a such conversion. Which filter are you planning on getting?
