  1. This is a simple but elegant image that takes me back to some of the more formal fashion photos of the 1930's or even the studio works of Paul Outerbridge. The use of a vignetted frame, whether intentional or not, adds to the overall stillness of the image. Only the word Somatic (of the body) in the title confuses me.

This has a nice feel, sort of like a late 19th century Emerson photo. The tangent of the hill to the top of the frame kills an otherwise niece image. If you can, add space to the top of the photo; About 1/2 of what is at the bottom in reflection would work.

This has the feel of an early 19th century English landscape painting. Off center composition with the human being an afterthought within the landscape. Nice image.

I like the ambiguity of space between the top edge of the hill and the clouds in the distance. I would like to see the foreground (bottom 1/3) brought up in value and play the size of the trees up against each other for more ambiguity.
  2. I like the lighting, tension of line and framing. The colors keep screaming at me though. You might try a strait B&W conversion then move the gamma up about .70. I feel it will make a good shot a great shot. With the deepening of the shadows, the form begins to flatten out increasing the figure/ground ambiguity.

This is one in a series of photographs taken over a 2 year period of

time using 35mm B&W film. These are images realized in LR from scans

of the original negatives. The series was an exploration of the

affects of nature on man made objects, in this case dolls, and the

emotional impact the images have on the viewer.

  3. Still life of objects found in an old burn site in central Oregon.

From a scanned 4X5 B&W negative. My interest is the juxtaposition of

the upturned pitcher and burned silverware in opposition to the

    patterns of the table top.
