Where is this? It's wonderful! The subtle colours and the hints of red, along with the cut make it look almost like an old painting. I'd like to see this on my wall - in large!

I disagree with Stephen. For me, it takes the empty space to give this image a feeling of dimension and width.

Beautiful light - you were there at the right time and moment. Congrats.

Personally, I find the perspective too high above the boat. I think I'd chosen a lower point of view for this one. I'd also have opted for a) a horizontal image or b) a square crop, which eliminates the tire and the poles, which are very dominant and in concurrence with the boat (which should really be the main actor in this picture). A nice moment, but not the interpretation I'd seek.

Spontaneously, I feel that the small branch to the left is one too much. I guess I'd have clipped that one away. You see just a tiny bit of a blossom on it, and it's more irritating than adding to composition (to me). Other than that, it's very pleasing.

The lone hiker! How beautiful this is! And he's certainly found an interesting road to travel!

    Very nice, really!

I'd correct the slight distortion on top and bottom, and cut away the pillars on the bottom to set this in a format that's slightly more panoramic. The pillars do not contribute any essential information - it's more the puzzle maze above that fascinates me.

We had a discussion about this in another forum and no, it's not always important to have a pigeon/tree/hiker/passing car etc in an image. Sometimes, pictures work through sheer simplicity, as does this one. I busy myself with admiring the beautiful light on the lay of the land. A very serene and solitary moment, I'd say. Thanks for sharing.

    Sad...?!

Very, very nice and storytelling! I love the strong black and whites in this one. A wonderful composition - congrats!

Yum yum... very inviting. Daniele is right about the lack of shadows, though. A tad bit of shadow might add to create a more 3D-aspect.

  1. It's a very nice landscape. If I may make a suggestion, though: a perspective from a lower point, eliminating the hedgerows and clouds in the back and putting the curve of the hill and the fence more into focus may be truly becoming. The colours are very nice and remind me of a lush early summer evening.
