1.
Really, I just want to see a sample. It is not a paid contract. It's for someone who wants to build a portfolio and wants to tag along with me. In exchange, I get another perspective and some assistance during. It would be really helkpful to see what one looks like and what typical terms are included. Please share??

 2.
I run timemachine because I don't know what else is good but I have a scheduler to control the backups. My Q is, can I use timemachine backups as bootup? i noticed it copies everything off my MAC HD. does it mean that if my mac crashes i can use one of the timemachine backups to restore everything? has anyone done it? is it easy?
sorry for all the questions. thanks!

 3.
I think my WD My Book can be configured into a RAID. I will need to do some research on how. But apparently there are two disks inside the casing that can mirror each other.
Gosh,I have so many questions. I want to have a step-by-step instruction on how to store and backup my files. Because I intend to keep just current working files on my Mac, I guess I could run Timemachine and store its backups onto my Seagate 1TB. But Time machine backs up every hour? It's just too much and I can't control the settings.
Could someone help me and give me a dumb down instruction on what I should do with all the HDs I own? For instance:
1. Import RAW into Lightroom. Do not delete files on CF cards until next usage.
2. In Lightroom, go through delete files off disk that I know I will never want to keep. Do a quick pass then backup the catalogue to WD MY Book.
3. In Lightorom, now do editing and stack up files for Photoshop edits. Extract edits into a new folder.
4. Go to Photoshop to do final retouches for files in the new folder. Files will be saved in JPG format.
5. Upload JPG format to an online backup service like Photoshelter or something similar.
6. Backup the new folder onto WD My Book.
7. Timemachine the entire Mac onto Seagate for one pass.
I don't know if there's a weakness in the above strategy... I just don't know how to use my two external drives the best way that I can.

 4.
Hello all
My Mac has 280GB of HD. I own two external hard drives (2TB WD and 1TB Seagate). My digital darkroom applications are Lightroom and Photoshop. My work focus is on weddings and portraits. What is the best and most efficient way to utilize my 3 HDs?
I prefer my Mac's HD contains just my current work (within the last 3 months). I want to keep all RAW files, all edited in PSD with layers, JPG files that I give to my clients and Lightroom Catalogs, edits and backups.
I'm not very techie so please pardon me if I said anything dumb here.
I appreciate your inputs and recommendations!

 5.
Hi, This thread is addressed to female wedding photographers out there. I'd like to know what bag or case do you take during the shoot and when you travel for a destination wedding (up to 2 days)? I wonder I'm just too sissy for shoulder bags. My shoulders are always completely "dead" at the end of the wedding. They're just plain too heavy for me. I have a Crumpler bag and a Kate Spade diaper bag which I use it like a Shootsac for lenses. So heavy to log all my equipment around from getting ready to reception. I also don't have a place for my tri-pod. I only use it when I shoot detail shots so I wonder if I should get a monopod or if there's a rolling case that has a build-in camera bracket right on the handle.

 6.
Quick update: I think I have finally got my monitor to match the prints. First, I adjusted the RGB settings on my Ultrasharp monitor. I just eye-ball and try to match the colors as close to the prints as possible. Then, I used Eye-One in Adv Mode, selected "Native White Point" (instead of any specific temperature) and let it do the rest. It never asked me to adjust RGB and I got a profile temperature at 5900K. I must say, the prints are pretty darn close to my monitor. I'm not sure if it's because of my manual adjustment or if Eye-one actually did calibrate something.

 7.
Hi Tim
I got my Dell 2209WA today. Would you please tell me what your settings are? Do you set your Dell to 6500K, 2.2 gamma and 120 lum with Eye-One Match? I'm aware that not every monitor is the same but I really would appreciate that you could also share your RGB numbers and Bright/Contrast numbers after you calibrated.
Thank you in advance!
I use i1 calibrator set my desire settings to 65K, 2.2 and 120. In the end, my numbers are Bright=64, Contract=85, R=72, G=69, B=68. Unfortunately, my test prints from Miller's Lab and MPIX are still different than what I see on the Dell monitor. So, I ordered some test prints from WHCC. I'm running out of ideas.

 8.
Thank you all for your feedbacks. This is helpful but I'm still a bit confused.
Yes I do give my clients hi-res images on CD. I also give them access to an online gallery with printing service. Plus if they like to get an album, I have pricing for them. However, no one bought any. They all loved my photos but no one bought any prints or albums. I can't compete with shutterfly or walmart.
I wonder if it's time that I change my packages to include:
All images on CD. They are in low res meaning good for prints smaller than 5x7. For hi-res digital negatives, they can either buy hi-res or buy enlargements.

What is the typical price of CD in hi-res? I have both portrait and wedding services. For weddings, about 500-1200 images. For portraits, about 30-60 images.

Should I actually spell out that the CD included in the package is in low-res? Would that deter some clients?
I have seen that some photographers offer "contact sheets". I wonder if I should include that in the package along with the low-res CD.

 9.
Hi, I wonder if those online gallery / print sites really do help you make a profit. For every wedding/portrait, I give them all the images on DVD and post them in an online gallery with printing service. Thus far, my clients haven't bought anything. I don't mark up my prices much. I wonder if I'm doing anything wrong or simply that these websites don't generate much income as I thought they would. Please advise. Thank you!
