1.
OK, so if an A-M switch fitted lens allows you manual focus override, then wha't the point of having a M/A-M switch? What additional or different functionality does that allow? thanks

 2.
Can someone please explain the difference between the functionality these 2 switches? Is a lens with A-M only switch not supposed to have the focus ring turned when the lens is in A mode? i.e. no manual override? If that is the case, then how come I can do manual override on my 18-105 VR with no problem while the lens has the A-M switch set to A? thanks

 3.
I have a D90 and use it with the 18-105 VR for everyday photography. I did purchase a 16-85 a while back thinking I'd see a step up in image quality, but was disappointed in the lens and returned it. I simply did not see any gain in sharpness, in fact I think the 18-105 has superior sharpness. Vignetting and CA I thought were similar. Only weakness I see of the 18-105 compared to the 16-85 is distortion. The 18-105 has quite prominent barrel distortion at the wide end. This I can live with as I don't shoot a lot of architecture or straight lines. Anyway, overall I think the 18-105 has better image quality, and it's also helpful to have an extra 20 mm reach. Oh, another thing, people sometimes emphasize that the 16-85 is wider, but come on, if you're after wide, get a true wide angle lens like the 10-24. So, just my 2 cents, these experiences were not scientific tests, just my observations, but I have seen posts on dpreview that describe formal tests with similar findings.

best of luck with your lens choice,

 4.
All I can say is that the new one I got from Adorama creeped right out of the box. And not just a little, it practically fell out from approx 35mm on. I'm not sure why people are thinking the new ones have a different zoom mechanism, as this was never said in Nikon's official press release. Some web sites stated the zoom mechanism is likely improved, but again, Nikon only said there's a zoom lock switch, not a different mechanism. If you have one that doesn't creep, I'm sure it will with time. I personally find zoom creep totally unacceptable. Just too annoying.
5.
I bought the new 18-200 and returned it the next day. The zoom lock switch is completely worthless, as you can only lock it at 18mm, and at that setting neither the old nor the new lens creeps anyway. I can also tell you that the new lens does creep the same way as the old one when not set to 18mm.

 6.
Hi Everybody,

I just happened upon this scene while at Alamo Square in San Francisco. I went there to shoot some San Francisco Victorians with modern downtown buildings in the background, and when I turned around, saw the sun going down behind the hill.

 7.
Hello again,

Thank you to those who gave kind comments about my posts last two weeks, truly appreciated.

In my photo this week I tried to capture just how much larger a structure the Eiffel tower is compared to the rest of the buildings in Paris. It truly does "tower" over the city.

 8.
hello everybody,
i got the new 18-200 today, and will be returning it promptly. It creeps quite fast straight out of the box. Does not creep at 18mm, so as someone mentioned above, the zoom lock switch is completely useless. I find the creep unacceptable, but that's just me, others I'm sure are not as bothered by it. Bottom line is, this new lens does not solve the creep issue at all.
9.
hello,
A few days ago where I live the moon was a crescent with a bright star next to it, and nice background. Next day the crescent was gone. My question is does anyone know when I can expect the same crescent moon to be in the same location in the sky at the same time of early morning? will the moon be in the same spot and same size 28 days from now? anybody know? Obviously asking because i'd like to take a picture of it. thanks,
Zoltan

 10.
Hello Everyone,

Recently returned from a trip to France. My photo is from inside the Cathedrale de Notre Dame. That entire structure is just amazing, inside and out.
11.
hi everybody,

quick question for those of you who use the ml-l3 wireless remote. I bought one, arrived today, and it came with no user's guide whatsoever. OK, OK, I know it's pretty self explanatory, but seems like may be one should be included and I'm missing it? Did you get any sort of user's guide with yours?

And if there is indeed no user's guide, I do have to ask about it's features exactly. I tried it, and it seems it does not work like the shutter release of the camera, meaning you can't hold it half way and focus then press down fully to expose, correct? seems like I press it all the way, the camera then focuses and then shutter is released. Option to set 2 second delay on the camera, mine a D90. Correct? thanks,
12.
hi,

I haven't read everyone's input, so not sure if someone has suggested what I'm about to , but here's what I think. I wanted to get a 50mm for portraits for my D90, but decided it was too short, even on DX. I bought the 85/1.8, and have been very happy with it. I think it is very sharp, with excellent bokeh, and allows me to be a little further away from the subject, for more candid shots. I also have the 35mm/1.8 to complement the 85mm for wider angle low light situations. Check out photozone's review of the 85/1.8 at http://www.photozone.de/nikon--nikkor-aps-c-lens-tests/221-nikkor-af-85mm-f18-d-review--test-report
13.
hello Everyone,
For those of you who use the 18-200 as your walkaround lens, how often do you find that 200mm is not long enough and you wish you had something longer, say the 70-300?
I'm trying to decide if I should get the 18-200 alone, or the 16-85 with 70-300 VR combo. thanks,
