1.
My D300s is getting old (over 130k shots). If I change it to D7100 is it up- or downgrading? What are the gains and loses? I need high ISOs (800-1600) because I shoot guite much birds in the fly. Or should I wait until my camera breaks down and new D400 is published?

 2.
I agree with Bjorn, many internet lists are untrustable in their views about good and bad performers in IR photography. I have used several Nikkor lenses and even 'the best known' performer AFS 18-70mm has traces of hot spot in some circumstances. Now I'm after AFS 18-55mm (any of them) because it is 'known' to be the best lens for IR photos. OK, there is self-irony in that last sentence.
I quess, hot spots are like lens flares, some lenses can be more resistantable to them, but they can be seen in all of them, in certain circumstances. Do not judge the lens to be bad or good without proper testing - but who has THE list?

 3.
(No category for postprosessing in Nikon forum ?!)
Do anyone know free or low-cost channel mixer to NX2? I have used Capture's adjust-color-LCH-hue function as 'channel mixer' in postprocessing my colour infrared files, but I am not totally satisfied with it. I know that I could process my NEF files in NX2 and save them in tiff mode and then import them to PS for channel mixing, but that was not the ordinary question. Anyway, good hints are welcomed!
4.
Hi!
Simple question: is Nikkor afs 300/4 too slow lens in Nikon D300s to take photographs of terns flying towards the camera? Too many of my photos are back-focused no matter how the camera is adjusted. Still images are correctly-focused. Photographing condition has been ideal: sunny wether, sky on background.
I'm rather experienced nature photographer (http://jti.kuvat.fi/), so don't try any too obvious explanation :) but of course you can suggest your own ideal camera adjustment combination! And I know newer afs telelenses are better, just too expensive for me.
Thnx for your feedback in advance!
5.
I have experience of Tokina 100mm and Sigma 150mm macro lenses. I prefer Sigma: it has tripod collar, its' physical lenght doesn't change when targetting, it has long working distance and it is quiet. It is great with small apertures. I find it produces neutral, natural colors.
