I love the selection of black & white with the black background for your presentation. Someone else said it was angelic - they hit it dead on. Congratulations on a wonderful composition.

Michael - thanks for commenting. First of all, she was part of approximately 20-25 members of Iraq Veterans Against The War that were performing a re-enactment of a patrol on the streets of Baghdad. This was at about noon on the second day of the DNC in Denver. The hand position is simulating carrying a weapon. I know the face is a little dark - I did struggle with that. I shot RAW and I can go back and play with it some more, but I found that if I got her face right her right shoulder and the brick wall behind her were blown.
I have since found through Google a little bit about this young lady. Her name is Wendy Barranco, and she is the president of the LA chapter of IVAW. She was a field medic and anesthesia assistant in Iraq. If you Google her you will find a couple of You Tube segments that are pretty deep. I would love to be able to sit down with her over coffee and just talk. I originally googled her because I wanted to send her this photo and a couple of others that include her together with her fellow veterans. Maybe I can still figure out how to do that.

This is a portrait taken the day she left us. I think it captures her soul,
but I would appreciate opinions pro or con. Trying to learn....

Why does this picture keep cropping up, over and over again? Surely someone else deserves a spot.... It's a beautiful shot, but is it really THAT good?

Constructive criticism desired, please - I'm working on my learning
curve.

This was a little tricky for me, exposure wise, because of the snow and
the darker trees in the shade behind the subject. Exposure Comp +1
and custom white balance of 6500. Comments and suggestions would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
