1. Hi, James. Guy is right. To date you have not rated or been rated by any other photographer.

Your work is gorgeous, but the best way to get known is to find work that you like by other photographers and put a little time into knowing the community. High ratings put the photos in a file that people can look at to see what you like and you can review it in case you ever want to go back and make a comment. Very often if you comment and rate someone else's work you will find out that they appreciate your work and take the time to rate it. Some people just randomly give low ratings, so you need to find legitimate photographers who will offset that. If I simply put a new photo in the critique forum and go away for 3 weeks, there is no action, except possible low ratings. But, if I look at work I like that is being posted at the same time I am posting, and I reach out to those photographers, I usually get a welcome response -- particularly if they have a record of rating others. Some people do not care about ratings and helping others and they will probably never be chosen for awards. Sharing with the community is what it is all about.

    Good luck, Leora

  2.
Hi, Jeffrey. The point is that people can search by category for individual photos, but if you want to group all your own photos according to category, you have to put them in folders named for the category within your portfolio, instead of just adding single photos into the mix. Look under options on your portfolio page.
Good luck! Leora

  3.
Josh, Congratulations! I must say the scene you described seems like it would be a fabulous photo, despite or because of your discomfort. Sadly, you wife was probably getting her much needed nap at that time. You need to have one of those diligent family members hang around to capture an award winner like that, with the 2 kids and the dog. Or recreate it. It would bring new meaning to "Mr. Mom"!
Oliver is fantastic!
Best regards, Leora

  4. Help, please. I cannot get to my workspace and cannot navigate to my bio page. I get a "Server Error" page

continuously. Associates are not having this problem. It is the second day. I have been on the site for many months

    and this has never happened.

    Thank you, Leora Long

  5. Dear Richard and fellow photographers, I have not heard too many people mention that the main difference between Raw and JPG is that Raw is uncompressed raw data and jpg is compressed.

Chris JB was right that if you edit in any way an image you value, you will lose data and quality, I am suggesting you archive the raw file and save a copy to work on in a lossless (uncompressed) format like Tiff (which all outside printers like) or PhotoShop (which is accepted by many).

Then there is the question of "profiles" on the computer and "color space" on your camera, which can effect the results when you send out files to printing services and when you save files to CD or DVD. The universal and safest profile and color space to use, if you are not just printing to your own printer, is sRGB. If you get good results printing to your own printer with an Adobe profile, just remember that when you send files out to be printed or make CD's and DVD's they may not match your monitor.

    Best regards, Leora
