<p>Have never seen a Vanguard Mk2 so have no basis however SBH300 Ballhead will<br>

mount with either 1/4" or 3/8" standard tripod threads (3/8" might need a<br>

thread adapter?). It is a very large ballhead so make sure it's what you need.</p>

<p>Buy the EFs 60mm f/2.8 Macro first Elizabeth as it may fit<br>

ALL your needs. Believe what you hear and have read about it<br>

and don't be put off by the small s - the lens is SUPER!</p>

 

<p>There are many more useful accessories and just save those few bucks<br>

to out towards a new lens or flash.</p>

<p>A very wise strategy Jonathan. I personally took to ballheads immediately that I tried one after<br>

<p>Along with bubble levels the Vanguard SBH100,200 and 300 all have indexed screw-lockable panoramic bases<br>

which can be used for panning if screw lock is left loose. My 300 is the beefiest but I'm considering either the<br>

100 or 200 (or both?) for a smaller tripod(s) as I like the 300 so much! I'm not connected with Vanguard in any way<br>

but am obviously smitten by the 300 and smaller ones are probably just as well made. </p>

<p>Vanguard SBH300 has a panning base and all the other qualites you'd need in a ballhead<br>

but doesn't have the cachet of Markins,Arca-Swiss,RRS if those are requirements? It only<br>

costs a little over $80 and is a real deal. Really, do yourself a favor and check it out.</p>

<p>Investigate Velbon El Carmagne tripods and consider a Vanguard Ballhead to replace the very acceptable Velbon panhead<br>

as I did. Have only read (no hands-on) about Vanguard CF tripods and some come with their ballheads too.</p>

<p>I'm unfamiliar with that tripod but from your description I think you're in search of a quick release plate? Go to tripodquickrelease.com for help or maybe the Velbon stockist in your area can research and order the part for you?</p>

<p>After time most things will loosen up and with a screw type you only have to snug it down a little more and all's tight again? Unless there's an adjustable lever type that eventual course of remedy doesn't exist? </p>

<p>I have the same ballhead which is excellent-how could you do better for the price? Why not email Kirk and ask them to specify which L-bracket you should order for your camera that'll also work with the Vanguard QS-45 and make it their problem since they'll get a sale?
