  1. Hi John, thanks for the thoughts. I would try to get them to do "cat things," however these are wild cats out at my in-law's farm and this was about as close to them as I could get before they scattered. I do understand what you're talking about with the clutter (you should have seen it before I cropped it). Would an even tighter crop help? As for the weak center of interest, is that due to contrast or the clutter? Thanks for your help.

First successful shots with my Bronica. Although I do have digital

shots, my heart is in medium format film. Would appreciate your helpful

    suggestions on technique.

  2. This is a revision of an early photo. Once manipulated to eliminate the

color and boost the contrast a little, I found that I liked this version much

more than it's original. Would be interested to know your thoughts...

  3. Shane, I like the concept very much. I think the reflection in the table adds a great deal to the overall effect of the shot. IMO the symmetry seems to be off. The model is either placing more weight/pressure on her left side, or her left breast is shifted to the side of her form moreso than the her right. Still, a wonderful image. Best of luck. james

This is my first attempt at portaiture photography. This was taken

without a filter and has not been manipulated in Photoshop. I am more

concerned with improving my composition skills. Any help and/or

    suggestions would be appreciated...

  4. Francois, another great shot and a wonderful model. Her eyes are striking. Did you purposefully create the asymmetry in the space behind her left thumb and the lack of space behind her right thumb? It seems that everythng is so perfectly aligned and symmetrical with the totality of the shot that the lack of space behind her right thumb jumps out at me. On the other hand, maybe I'm perseverating... I love your work!
  5. Francois:

At first I was not too sure what you were getting at with your photography, but the more I see your work, the more I love it. I especially enjoy seeing Liloo and I believe she is one of the most beautiful and versatile models I have seen on here. She can portray the exquisite beauty of the the fashion model as well as ridint the edge of your various themes. What I am seeing is a true connection between the photographer and model. Your images exude that trust that is necessary to capture the extraordinary. One day I hope to find that perfect model that can help me rise to this level. Congratulations to you both and keep giving us more. James

  6. I have gone through your portfolio and visited your website. Your work is exceptional and this particular shot is my absolute favorite. I enjoy seeing your shots and look forward to attempting to emulate your skill. Thanks for your eyes!!

My first attempt at medium format photography. I shot five rolls of film

and thought this one was perhaps worthy of submission. I would

    appreciate any comments. Regards. james

  7. Thank you for a truly amazing photo! I am new to this and have nothing that I can offer to the craft, but I can say this photo speaks to the meaning of beauty as shaped by life. What a wonderful shot.
