1.
Today I had the chance to shot with the 55-200 vr on my D80 in a church. After a few shots I realized that 1.) i really don't need a very long FL lens, a 100-150 should be fine for me 2.) a fast lens is always better than a vr, i knew this, but there in the church it was evident. My shots at 200 5.6 were better than nothing, actually i liked them (for the price of the lens is great), but at 1/10 i had luck only if the subject remained steady. So finally, i think i will wait and search for a fast prime or zoom in the range of 100-150. If there it's any suggestion, I'd be thanfull.
Regards,
2.
Wouter, you're right. Lenses with longer fl are a lot more expensive, but even though for me - probably because I haven't tried - it seems short. The others that you mentioned, well, I'm trying to find them, and I'll think about them. Other suggestions would be also great, like so far.

 3.
Joel: that 180 f/2,8 is really a good one, but quite pricey.
Nish: in my case indoor means a larger hall, like a church. Mostly I shoot from 5 to 10 meters (16-33 feet), for closer shoots I would definetly use the 50 mm or a longer FL lens for headshots.

 4.
Hi everyone,

A have a D80, 18-55 mm vr and 50 mm 1.8 (my favourite). Mainly I shot people, abstract and indoors. Landscape and architecture is not so often.
I want to have a longer FL, but although I know the benefit of fast lenses, I don't know what to buy. I cannot afford a 70/80-200 2.8 or any other 2.8 zoom, so I need suggestions. Is there a prime (zoom is not a must) that can beat the 55-200 vr (especially speaking of speed)? 200 mm is not a must, but at least 130-150? I can spend on it approx. 250-280 US.
Regards, Thomas

 5.
Can the D80 handle fast memory cards( Sandisk Ultra II 2/4 Gb)? I heard that the sdhc is faster for movies and for bursts. But since the D80 can't take movies and I won't shot in burst mode to frequently(10% of the time), do I need sdhc ?

 6.
Finally, I bought the D80. The next big questinmark is: what lens?
Low light(indoor family shots, church, conferences, so it's not that dim like in a theater),tele but not for serious things like(flying birds or animals..people on the streets and landscape) and for general.
I have 6 choices from to chose 2 or max 3 lenses, so: 18-55Vr(general), 55-200 Vr and for low light 50mm/1.8, 135mm/f2.8. My budget is max 300 $. Please help

 7.
I'm not concerned about IQ, because all these Nikon's are far better then any P&S, and I won't make big prints. Now, that you guys helped me and I'm wiser a little bit in this thing.
Another question is that, if you guys recomend primes over consumer grade zoom, then what prime do you recomend to cover that range(18-(180)200)?
Is that a good choice to buy that 18-55Vr and 2 primes(I don't know yet which one to chose)..I don't have enough money and this whole stuff is important, because I will start a project in the city in March.ohh..

 8.
I cannot afford to buy AFS primes, because they are way to expensive for me(including the 50mm 1.4..:((.
I need one or two lens in 50% of the situations( say landscape and peolpe..of course in good light conditions)-for hobby
and 50% people and night shots, where I need an affordable prime. -especially for my job(I'm not a full time pro, so I would be pleased with an relatively good prime)

 9.
Hello everyone,
I'm confused, because I don't know what to buy. My dream is the D80, but I live in Romania where this camera is very expensive(but if I will stick to this beuty then I would buy an used one or from ebay). The second choice it would be the D60 or D40.
The resons to buy the D80: internal focus motor, LARGE viewfinder+top lcd panel and more buttons(2 comm. dials etc).
The resons to buy the D60 or D40: it's cheaper, so I can buy better lenses, better exposure(D80 has some errors, but it doesn't concerns me)
If D80 then 18-55Vr+55-200Vr and probably an 50mm/1.8
if D60/D40 the 18-55VR+55-20Vr(maybe the 70-300Vr) and a flash.
In the future I will take photos not just like a hobbyst, but because of my job too. I will shoot especially indoor(people, conferences or theatre) and nature.(sports and others are not so important)
Please help.Thank you for reading it
