1.
Hello my name is Jose Nina. I'm a experienced Photographer/Videographer. I have 16+ years in the field.
I'm a newcomer from Dominican Republic and trying to get known by other Photographers and Videographers.
I have already worked for other photographers that call me to second shoot or to be the Primary shooter with in the New York area, when they have the needed me. They basically like my work ethics, how I treat customers and also the final product that I have provided them. I do the job with even more responsibility then if the gig was totally mine hence I'm dealing with another persons reputation.
I have proof of my work, you can see them in my facebook or I can direct you to my webpage when you contact me. I also have physical proof of my work (DVD's with Full Edit Videos and photography job).
Please click on my name if you want to contact me and I will respond to you as soon as I get your email or call!
Thank you for taking your time to read this post,
Best Regards,
Jose Nina
2.
I have done Weddings as a second shooter, I usually get $250. dollars for a 6-8 hour gig. I would not even consider working with anyone for free or for $12 the hour. I don't know where you are based, but you mention what you charge, so if you need a second shooter because you are offering that as part of your package to your client then you need to calculate for real what you will need to pay for a Second Shooter even if that person might not be as experienced as you are, but someone you can thrust to do the job. If I needed a SS I would then put the cost of that into my budget. I would not pay less $200 dollars if he or she will be using her a equipment. If you need someone to work for free you need someone who is looking to learn and built experience. Post a different ad stating what you are really looking for. Even to my own son when he wants to go with me and help assisting me just for the fun of it I compensate for his time and effort at least $100 dollars. Also you need to see the portfolio of this Second Shooter in the interview to find out if it qualifies for the job.

 3.
It is very simple: someone else is paying for her weddings photos and she wants the money back to spend on something else! When someone has already receive proofs and it is satisfy with the what has been shown to her then no bad-wording will take the customer away from you so easily! Get a letter from her with the facts as proof! So if vendors really are working against you then can get a lawyer to proceed!

 4.
Ok so I meet the company's owner, he is offering a full time job, details about the job will be detail between both later on, for now he wants me to shoot and then provide him with finish photos for ads, catalogs and what ever else they will need the photos for. My problem is how much to charge for a days work (maybe 7 to 9 hrs.), will you consider in your price that this person might be your full time employer in his company? or you just go ahead and charge with a little consideration because of this? Any response will be very much appreciated!

 5.
How about the memory cards? Did you check them? Even after you format the card you can usually get a free software to recover files from them. I had the same problem and was surprise that when using the free software from Sandisk I could see files from about two different weddings!

 6.
You are there to take photographs, that is plain truth, but in order to take them and since Weddings do have a timeline for things to happen, then you need sometimes to direct this moments to get the shot.
Even if there is a Wedding Planner you need to communicate with this person and other vendors, like the DJ, to organize the timeline.
You are the one that calls the SHOTS!

 7.
This is the correct answer to your question:
A lens' maximum aperture is determined with the lens focused at infinity. At distances closer than infinity the effective aperture may be reduced due to the lens extension; this is called the "bellows extension factor". If you focus on a subject farther away, the lens reading will display the full f/2.8.
Additionally, the lens' minimum aperture may be smaller as well, so instead of f/22 the lens may go down to f/45 or smaller at close focus distances due to the extension factor.
8.
1- That will depend on the experience of the second shooter. In my case, since I am a Pro. Photo and have shot weddings by myself for the studio I used to work in, 90% of my pics are keepers. When assisting the Main Photographer as a second then I still have the same porcentage of keepers or even more since I shoot less and have less pressure to capture the main pics so I can take my time to adjust settings as I wish and also be able to wait for the right moment.

2- Again depends on the event itself, in a big wedding with Cathedral type church and many guest, as second shooter I would get the artistic shots since I have the liberty of moving away from the bride and groom since the Main Photog. has them as number one objective. In the reception I ussually take over the dance floor, people calling photog. for a shot with wife and children, etc. Sometimes doing some of the main photographer's work to let him rest a little.

3- I started getting paid as assistant to photographer and I have always gotten paid for my work. You do not make anyone work for free even if they are begginners. If this person just volunteers I would still give them a couple of bucks for them to spend later. Keep in mind that work is = to money.

4- I still live in Dominican Republic, we ussually among photographers do not sign or make contracts but in the USA I'm sure you need to always sign a contract for everything.

 9.
This is very interesting question since I should be going to live in the New York or New Jersey in a couple of months and I would like to get some work retouching or edting other photogs. pictures as a freelance.
I think that a good fee would be a average of 20-30 dollars per hour. I'm good with Photoshop but I'm no Wiz. I also make album designs after I have a selection from the Photog or the Bride. But that would be another fee I have to think about.

 10.
We take over 250 shots. Why? Because most of the weddings we do are Catholic and since in Dominican Republic rules in the Church are kind of relax (veryyyy few restrictions to photog. and videographers) we can move around all we want. We really try not to distract from the ceremony but we are seen here as part of it. So people attending the ceremony and the Priest do not get distracted. Anyway we do apply want William said "Fewer and Better".

 11.
Hello Everyone!

I will be living in New York or New Jersey (need to rent a apartment) around July this year and I'm looking to work as a freelance with a Photographer in this area.
I have more then 16 years of experience in Wedding Videos and editing in different softwares. I'm also a Photographer and I retouch photographs in Lightroom and Photoshop. I can design pages for Photo Albums and have had my albums made by Leather Craftman in New York. I have used both Nikon and Canon cameras and they're flashes. I'm really experienced in lighting techniques using on camera flash plus strobes (up to 6 or 8 in big churches).

If your are interested in having a experience person working with you and for you, with the very good quality and real good human relations with customers, let me know.
I can submit proofs of my work, entirely made by me in Dominican Republic, photos and complete Wedding and Sweet Sixteen videos.

If your are interested and can give me any advise I will be more than glad to hear from you. Just click on my name to see my contact information.

 12.
Wedding and sports photographers are part of the big reason film is almost gone .They put their film cameras aside to use digital ,to increase their profit ,less work ,assurance of the cat in the bag . Well , anyone can take a picture with a digital camera you don't need a pro anymore , take the shot photoshop will do the rest.

What may happen in the future nobody knows but for the moment skill and knowledge still beat any type of cameras or photoshoping a image. Yes, digital has lower the cost and give more benefits to photogs but still it cannot make a camera decide when too take a picture and it cannot decide if later on this photo will be retouch or not. Tecnologies makes access easier to more people but for the moment it cannot take over the rest!
And Edesandro IMO I think you wish/need Pros out of the way to start really making profit with your cellphone like a Pro and what is going to happen is that by the time Pros start picking their Cellphones to take pictures with them and do video, you are still not going to be able to mach them!
Really sorry for you :)
