1.
Hi everyone,
another Wednesday already - gee the weeks are speeding by.
My picture this week was taken on the Ballan Mt Edgerton Road in Victoria. I like how the smaller tree is shaped just like a feeding emu. Well, to my eyes anyway.
Have a great week

00XYwG-294689784.JPG.7c0a59e88a4587a6f0a4866a7e08013b.JPG

  2.
Hi everyone,
like so many others I really look forward to Wednesday and the wonderful pictures it brings.
Here's my contribution - a crop of a fence paling that was in the background of a portrait - hope you find it as intriguing as I do.
As always a great collection of pictures this week.

00XWAZ-292207584.jpg.24c9432515f93f5aadb298a1735050a1.jpg

  3.
Hi everyone,
Another terrific Wednesday collection of pictures.
I haven't been able to take any picturess this week because I'm travelling - found this one on my notebook - I had forgotten it completely. I remember now that I was playing around with my CP 5700 - a camera I still use from time to time.

Anyway, I hope you like it. I have no idea what the flower is called. Maybe someone could help me with that.
Have a great day,
4.
Hi everyone, this weeks picture is of my 84 year old father taking in the view from his hill-top property. The tree stump in front of him was a large tree obstructing the view three weeks ago, when he removed it himself, without any help. I hope this picture captures something of his determination (stubbornness?).
There are already some terrific pictures this Wednesday.
All the best, Alan

00XQmf-287781584.jpg.7a05beb9be93597fcc3f54973a421485.jpg

  5.
Hi everyone,
I always admire the work posted here. Deep breathe - here's one of mine
Nikon F3 plus Tokina 20-35mm film 100 iso (can't remember type)

Looking towards Melbourne across Bacchus Marsh from Ingleston. Hope you like it.
6.
On my cameras, it's click once to open shutter, then cover the lens & move the timing ring off 't" to finish the exposure. Works like this on my Kowa 66 and Nikon F3. A great idea, much better than "B" setting.
7.
Hi Dan and John,
thanks for your ideas. I'm pretty sure this is a camera body problem because all my lenses work perfectly on my other bodies. In the new year I'll get a quote for a CLA and whatever else needs to be done.
Thanks again.

  8.
Hi all
just received a slightly battered but apparently mx from that auction site. I was excited! until I realised that when I attached a 50mm 1.7 prime lens the focus changed as I pressed the shutter. So if I focus at 3 meters, after the mirror returns I have to refocus, and sometimes this changes to around 2 meters.
So I thought this might be the mirror taking a while to settle down after each shot. However, when I attach the lens the camera arrived with, no problem. Focus stays rock solid. This lens is a Tokina 28-70mm F3.8 zoom. The only difference i can see between the mounts of the two lenses is that the aperture lever on the Tokina is a few mm longer than the Pentax prime. This prime lens has been working perfectly with my other k-mount cameras.
I can't understand what's happening. Ideas anyone???
9.
Hi all, I've been following these posts for weeks now - finally got something to contribute - my friend working on a gear box & motor in the middle of a country field last weekend. Hope you like it.

  10. Hi all,

I was recently given a working Kowa Kallow 35mm rangefinder. It has

produced some extraodinarily sharp and contrasty pics. The lens is a

    48mm f2.8 Prominar.

Could someone tell me a little more about this camera, especially

    about the lens design.

I am quite surprised, from my results, that these cameras aren't more

widely known. Was there an inherent problem with them?

    Thanks,

    Alan

  11. For Australian Kowa 6 owners - I found a repair person, Eric Owen, in Queensland who was prepared to work on the lens. I'm in Victoria. Everything was arranged via email, the lens shipped to and from by registered mail, and took about two weeks.

The problem was a stripped gear in the speed control assembly. The assembly was replaced (Eric returned the old one), glass cleaned & polished and lens CLA'd - total cost well under $A300 including parts & shipping both ways.

Eric knows a lot about Kowas and for me has been good value. His email address is eric@st.net.au

  12. Hi again,

thanks for the responses - I'm trying to find someone in Australia to fix it. Re 25c spring - yep, I agree absolutely, but I promise I'm not able to do that sort of work myself - 10 thumbs. If it can be dropped, I'll drop it, if it can be lost, I'll lose it. If it breaks, .... anyway I just can't do these things myself. I envy those who can.

    Alan

  13. thanks for the quick responses. I've run a b&w film through using the lens and the shutterspeed appears to be significantly slower than 1/30th. I will pursue the repair option.

    Thanks again,

    Alan

  14. Hi all,

I recently received a 150mm lens for a kowa six (the one with the

72mm filter thread). It only fires at one speed no matter what the

ring setting. It sounds like it's firing at around a 30th of a

second. My local camera shop said it was probably a broken non-

repairable spring. I don't know where to get it repaired in

Australia. I'd like to be able to use it even if it has only one

    speed.

Does anyone know what the "default" speed of this lens might be?

    Thanks,

    Alan
