Beautiful details and textures. It almost seems like there's too much going on in the shot though. Maybe a crop to only part of the photo which still shows all those amazing features of the plant would help.
  1. This was for an assignment at uni.

The theme for the assignment was "You are here, I am there".

I had a lot of trouble making sense of this. What I came up with is

the relationship between predator and prey, and how there is a

distance between them. The predator is "here" behind the camera, and

the prey is "there", running or hiding, shown in the photograph. I

just wanted to make a similar metaphor abut the relationship between

predatory animals and animals of prey.

  2. I wanted to portray the disconnectedness one can feel from oneself

    when experiencing a 'dissociative event'.

This is a psychological term which describes a response people have to

trauma or difficult situations. They may respond by cutting off their

emotions and to them it can feel as if they are watching their life

from behind a movie but not actively participating in it.

    Anticipation

    Hi,

The quality of this image is not great, I know. The lab I took it to

processed it in black and white chemistry by mistake. It is actually

    colour 120 film.

However I tried to concentrate on the composition... what are your

    thoughts on it?

    Thanks for any feedback.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the comment, I am glad your daughter likes it :) I think a portrait of an animal should show its personality - and Tiger is definitely a mischievous cat.

    Sunset

Hi Martin, thanks for the comment on my photo :) The light in the shot is very interesting, and I think it's a great idea to capture it through the tree's branches like that.

I've looked through your gallery, and I was thinking that you should try shooting with film. The way that the background in this photo has been overexposed by the digital camera means that there is no detail. If you shot in film, you would get a lot more of the background. Film can usually handle difficult lighting conditions better than digital. Let me know if you try it!
