1.
Thanks for your responses.

I'm experimenting a little bit with WB and come to conclusion that I have to pick something in the middle. Like last party shoot indoors without flash w/tungsten lights - camera's AWB set WB to 3550k, Lightroom's AWB set WB to 2850k (and white looks almost like white), "Tungsten" preset is 2600k (and white looks really whie) and I was satisfied with WB set somewhere between 3000-3100 - colder than in real life, but warmer than "pure white" WB.

 2.
Just reviewed photos from Xmas... My wife likes photos with P&S-like flash ("people faces are flat and you cannot see many defects, wrinkles etc") :), Looks like next party I'll give her my old Canon A630. Last time I played with friend's 430EX there was dialog like this "Look, this shot was made with flash pointed to your face, and here flash is bounced from the ceiling. Which one do you like?" - She pointed to "In your face". See the reason why above.

Also, at the end of April I'll have the second most important photoshoot in my live - birth of my son. At my daughter birth I heard all the time comments like "turn off your f!king flash". :) So I think "fast" lens right now will be more important for me :)

 3.
Thanks again for everyone for your replies.
The question was what to get FIRST. And I completely understand that I have to get flash anyway. I spent all my childhood with cameras like Kiev and Smena, so 30mm should be natural for me :)

 4.
Wow. Plenty of great responses! :)
I'm not a pro and my primary targets indoors are my family and parties.
During holidays I tried to shoot indoors with kit lens at ISO 800-1600 without flash, with built-in flash and with friend's 430EX. I threw away most of shots made with built-in flash, many of shots w/o flash was blury, but those 2-3 I got was way more natural and better than w/430EX. From other hand most of "good" shots I got was made w/430EX pointed to ceiling. After that experience I decide to do something with my gear
I got 50/1.8 from friend two days ago. It almost exactly what I need, but it's too narrow. And after comparisons like this (http://www.markcho.com/gallery/album117/sigmavcanon3035_1 ) I cannot go with Canon 35/2.0 instead of Sigma. :(
Tracy, thanks for mentioning Vivitar 285, maybe this is my solution. To get used Sigma 30/1.4 + Vivitar 285 w/Cactus II or something like this...

 5.
Hello,

Right now I have Canon XSi + kit lens 18-55/3.5-5.6 IS + 50-250/4.0-5.6 IS. I have some bucks to spend on my hobby and I'm deciding between lens Sigma 30mm/1.4 and flash Canon 580EX to take indoor photos. What do you think?

Thanks
