Good morning all
It's been a while since I've posted a Wednesday picture. Oh the shame - Futurama's Dr. Zoidberg voice
Since the last time I posted, many important things happened in my photographic life:
-Shot my first wedding and it went great
-Started my own business as a wedding and commercial photographer
-Put my website online
-Started a Project 365, where I take a picture everyday, not every week! =)

Anyway, one of the pictures this week was yesterday's self portrait.

<a href=" Day Three framed and pressed the shutter.
strobist info: SB28 @ 1/16 @ 85mm in an umbrella camera left | white 3ft reflector camera right | snooted YN460 @ 1/2 gelled green | setup <a href=" Day Nineteen setup

 3.
Good morning

I want to thank Savitri Wilder and Richard Karash for the nice comments on my "swiss swatch watch" picture from last week. It was great fun to shoot it =)
This week I have again a "studio" shot, taken in my kitchen.
camera info: Nikon D700 | AF-D 60 f/2.8 Micro | handheld | 1/250th @ f/5.6 or f/6.3 (don't remember)
strobist info: SB28 @ 1/64 through IKEA white cutting board behind and above pasta. You can see the setup shot <a href=" Pasta setup

 4.
Hello all, good morning
A coupe of weeks ago, my wife went to Lisbon and got me this beatiful Swatch. I couldn't resist but to photograph it.
This time I didn't take a picture of the setup, but for the strobist curious: The watch was held on films canisters on each end of the bracelet and had a SB28 @ 1/32 on a translucent umbrella, camera right, roughly 1 foot from the watch, and 2 feet above. Camera front, below watch, is a white paper reflector. Black craft paper as background. Triggered by Cactus V4.
Camera info: D700 | Nikon 60 f/2.8 AF-D Micro | Tripod
Have a great week, everyone!

Good morning
This is a simple shot of the sunset at the beach. The sun was already touching the water, but the sky was unclouded and so I decided to point the camera down and capture the water coming in.
I really loved the highlights on the pebbles, it gives the foreground some interest.
D700 and AF-D 50 f/1.4 @ f/2 or f/2.5, don't really remember =)

 6.

Good morning all
I'm really late this week =)
This is one of my mother-in-law's many plants. I had my 60 Micro f/2.8 AF-D for a few days and I couldn't resist taking a picture.
I placed a SB800 camera left @ 1/16th and bounced it off a white tiled wall also to the left (hence the diffused shadows), triggered by CLS with D700's pop-up flash as a commander.
This one is hanging on my dining room wall =)

 7.
Hi
First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to Hamish, Anders, René, Paul Gorky, Steve Lyon and Richard Karash for the kind words. I try my best to explain how the shot was made to share the knowledge. No point in holding it back =)
Now, the pictures that really caught my attention are a handfull:
Evan Browning's shot of Martin Ferres is absolutely stunning. The light, the mood, the composition. I love everything about it.
Matt's beautiful patient wife and the coolest dog =). What a pleasing portrait. It shows that a small strobe and an umbrella can do wonders (I'm getting there very, very slowly..)
Jim Intelicchio's dog looks like a 18th century painting. Very nice work! I would print it and hang it on my walls.
Cees Mass' seascape is so calming and so minimalistic. D700 is the nicest camera, huh? =)
Last, but not least, Janne Kaakin's Fall colors over the cemetery are absolutely gorgeous. Great image and very nice composition.
To all the others, I can't wait for next week! Every Wednesday is a better Wednesday!
Cheers,
Pedro.
PS - Please excuse my poor English, as it's not my native language.

 8.
I had some time on Monday night and decided to play a bit with some flowers that my wife had bought at the market last Saturday.

strobist info: Cactus KF36 at 1/16th, camera right, above subject through a DIY mini softbox. Lumiquest Tabletop reflector camera left. Background was done with an SB800 @ 1/8th and zoomed to 105mm and gridded with a Coroplast DIY snoot, half gelled red and half gelled red hitting some wine glasses on a shoebox.
Both triggered via Cactus V4
For the setup shot, click here.
camera: D700 and Micro 60 AF-D, 1/30, f/10 and ISO200 on tripod

 9.
Hello, good morning
Once again, thank you all for the nice comments about my picture from last week.
My picture is from a trip to Switzerland last month, to Gruyére. There was a folk festival in town that weekend and they got together in the Gruyére Castle.
This girl was kind enough to smile for me while taking her picture =)
D700 and AF-D 50 f/1.4.
10.
Hello guys and girls
I'm getting later and later every week =) Or is it you, José, that is getting up earlier every morning?
About my sushi picture last week, I want to thank you all for the nice comments. I honestly can't reply to every single one of you because my access to pnet from work is veeeery limited (I wasn't even supposed to login...).
Every week the pictures get better and better. From all of you. I think we are learning from eachother as well!
Anyway, this is my wife shooting some pool in a very dark room last Saturday night. D700's high ISO abilities amaze me every time. This was shot with a cheap 18-55 @ 22mm (hence the vignetting) @ f/3.5, 1/15s and ISO6400. There's some noise in the shadows, but still..ISO6400! I'm hooked! =)

 11.
Ken Yamamoto : in reply to your comment on my blog, my wife is not japanese, but I wouldn't mind if we lived there and we were both japanese! She is quite portuguese, actually =) We never tasted sushi until last night. We never even went to a japanese restaurant! She got excited by watching a video on YouTube and decided to give it a try, given her love for cooking.
All the others, thank you for the comments. Wednesday is the best day of the week!

Pedro.

 12.
Hello all, good morning
Finally a picture from this week! Actually, from last night's dinner. My wife cooked her first sushi meal and it was great. Just watched how to do it in YouYube and voilá! homemade, tasty sushi.
I also received a mint 60mm f/2.8 micro that I found for a bargain and had to play with it! =)
Both taken with a D700 and the 60mm f/2.8. Left picture: flash camera left @ 1/4 power on a stand through an umbrella. Right picture: flash bounced off ceiling @ 1/2 power.
As a side note, I tried Wasabi for the first time and I gotta tell'ya, it's almost as hot as my wife! :)

Cheers,
Pedro.

 13.
Monika:I only saved my picture to 1000px wide and uploaded it to Flickr. Since photo.net imposes max 800x, I had to get the medium size link from Flickr, wich is only 500x wide...Sorry =)
About your mediterranean trip, I envy you. =) Please do take many pictures and show them to us!! Wich countries are you going to visit?
José: May I ask you why you used ISO12800 @ 1/125? You could have gone to ISO3200 easily and use 1/30" at that focal length =) Great picture nonetheless, and I actually like the graininess, it gives the picture this "retro" feel. Well done.

 14.

Good morning all
I want to express my gratitude for the comments from last week. It means a great deal to me! Thank you all for the nice and positive comments.
Me and my wife went to Bilbao, Spain, last July to visit the Guggenheim Museum. It is a very nice city and the museum is absolutely brilliant. The surroundings are also great, with lots of new architecture contrasting with the old buildings. Frank Gehry rules! =)
This shot was made with a D700 and E-Series 28 f/2.8 on a very small plastic and flimsy tripod on a very shaky bridge. I was lucky enough to be able to prevent the tripod from wiggling around for the 8 second exposure @ f/16 and ISO400.

See you next week!
15.
Hello, good morning
First of all, I want to thank all the compliments from my last week's photo - Thank you!
I've returned from the holidays in Switzerland on Saturday and I have a ton of new stuff to edit and post, but since I'm so late in doing that, my contribution this week is from a friend's birthday we went to last July.
This is Leonardo, a little baby boy that fell asleep in a beanbag in the middle of a hot afternoon*
D700, AF-D 50 f/1.4, converted in LR2.
16.
Hello all

I'm very, very late this week. I'm on holidays in Switzerland with my wife and I completely forgot WedNesDay's!!
Here's my contribution for this week: my brother showed us his workplace. He makes these 90 lb (=40kg) cheeses!
D700, 50 f/1.4 AF-D @f2.2, 1/30 ISO800 handheld - straight out of camera.

 17.
Good morning
I'm a bit behind on my processing, so this is again one of the oldies. Taken in July, during a small walk around town. O co-worker had just bought a D40 kit and he wanted some pointers, so we went to shoot some pictures after work. It was a great afternoon, with a lovely warm light all around.
This house is by the river and is painted in very very bright yellow. Next to it there's a newly remodeled house with great colors also. Everytime I go there, I can't resist =)
D700, E-series 28mm f/2.8, circular polarizer (don't remember the settings, but something around f/8 and 1/250s ISO 200)

 18.
Good morning all
Another one from the archives. Taken last year at a workshop (during the lecture!) at the chairs in front of me.
Nikon F4, Series E 28 f/2.8 @ 2.8. Fuji Neopan 400. Shutter speed not recorded, but probably 1", handheld.
Scanned on cheap Epson V200 photo scanner and processed in LR2.

 19.
Oh boy...
When I woke up this morning and saw "WedNEsDAy PiC #32" with yesterday's date and already with 80+ replies, I though that I'd mix up the calendar and skipped 1 day in the week! =)
Jose, you kidder!! =)
Anyway, this was (again) shot during a weekend getaway with my wife back in April.
D700 + 50 1.4 AF-D. 1/100 @ f/8, ISO 200 handheld

Bragança Castle, Portugal

 20.
Hello, good morning!
José: your shot reminds me of my honeymoon. We drove all the way from Aveiro, Portugal to Ribadesella, through Puebla de Sanabria, León, Oviedo and Ribadesella (in addition to Picos de Europa). Man, I miss that time! . In León we ate at some of those "bares de tapas" and I loved it! I'd move to León in a heartbeat! So I thank you for your picture, because it brings some memories back.
I'm going back to my archives again because this last week I went on Scott Kelby's worldwide Photowalk in Porto, Portugalm but I still haven't processed any of my pictures. And I don't want to show them before the competition ends.
So, my shot this week was taken on the same day as <a href=" 20090627-PAC_7423 one, posted a couple of weeks ago.

D700, Series E 28mm f/2.8 @ f/16, 1/160s, ISO 200, CPL

Best Regards to all,
Pedro.

 21.
Hello everybody.
I'm late again! I guess I should start coming to work a little earlier on Wednesdays =)
I was shooting some pictures last night with my new flash stand and sewn-by-wife white umbrella in a dark alley on the beach when this diver went by with a load of crabs! I asked him if I could take his picture and he gladly accepted.

strobist info: old fixed power "Achiever 260AF" flash on a stand and shoot through umbrella high camera left, triggered by Cactus V4 wireless trigger.
Camera info: D700, 70-300 G @ 70mm, ISO 200, f/9 and 1/10", handheld.

 22.
Hello René:
My picture was taken in Costa Nova (remember my last week's entry?), a beach near my parents'. I live in Aveiro, wich is only 5 min drive away.
If you are curious about it, search for "Costa Nova, Aveiro, Portugal" in Google maps. There are tons of pictures from that area. Some say it's one of best cities to live in Portugal because we have every scenery in a 20 km radius: the beach, the river, mountains, waterfalls, fields...everything =)
Nice pictures again this week, guys and gals.
Cheers!
Pedro.

 23.
Hello all, good morning
Taken several weeks ago, during one of the most fantastic sunsets I've ever seen. Apart from this one, I shot a composite of 11 pictures to register the complete scenery, wich was amazing. You can see it here.
D40, 18-55 kit lens @ 18mm, f/11 and 1/10s handheld, ISO200. Post processing done in LR2 to recover the highlights.
