  1. Do all you clowns take yourselves so seriously? And since this was such fun, let's see if I can upload the gif version...

"good for only one thing" ... Viewed 1609 times ... (blush)

For a laughable piece of self-promotion not even good for one thing ...

    -- go to www.crittervision.com

For photos none of you could create (without considerable help) ...

    -- go to iss-transit.sourceforge.net

  2. This is damn sexy. I also think the Photoshop effect was perfect- although it wasn't exactly what I first noticed. The bad thing about looking at your photos is that it makes me want to turn off my computer (which pays the bills) and go play with my camera... sigh!
  3. I don't agree, but I find the background (chair and floor presumably) a bit distracting- I believe the photo would be made more powerful via digital enhancement. Floating in clouds... against a background of galaxies (reminiscent of 2001:A Space Odyssey)... sitting in a bed of clover... or just with the floor substituted for the chair.
  4. Or one may be drawn to the lack of focus. The basic simplicity of this photo is its strength, and makes it one of my favorites of this artist (along with the entirely different "Red Light Girl," which seems to have sadly disappeared).
  5. You should consider putting yourself on a pedestal- unpretentiously in some photographs, I mean. See Philip Greenspun's photos of "The Three Graces" (and here) for example.

You give up some control in self-portraits of course, just as with most digital cameras you give up the ability to precisely capture the moment in action photos, but stick with this model for awhile, just the same.

I encourage you to explore digital editing, as a means of putting yourself into scenes that might be awkward to shoot in person. Sitting on Abe Lincoln's big cold lap in Washington, D.C., would be a great shot, for example. The challenge would be to make it so realistic that people would wonder if you actually did it.

  6. I'd never have discovered your work here were it not for the B&W shower photo that appeared on the photo.net main page today (3-7-01). This is my favorite- very alluring, with your face in shadow. My least favorite, and it's mostly a visceral reaction, is the "Digitalized Nude" in a cage (which is quite original, just the same).

You're sure your name isn't Amy Johnson?: "with your photographs of Kitty Hawk and the biplanes on your wall... no schoolroom kept you grounded- while your thoughts could get away; you were taking off in Tiger Moths, your wings against the brushstrokes of the day!"
