Thanks a lot for the insightful critique, I'm glad that you enjoyed my image.  I'd also have liked to get the whole bird into the frame, but you gotta make do with what you get  I guess.  I also think the posture of the bird is what makes the picture interesting, there seems to be something forlorn about it.  I suppose that's what you call anthropomorphism. 

Great  shot, nicely proportioned, reptition of shapes, and an interestingly enigmatic stance, good work. 

Wow Stan thanks so much for such a detailed and complimentary critique.  It's really made my day to see somebody appreciate some of my work so much.  The conditions really came together at just the right time for this shot.  I was taking some shots of just the lighthouse, but they seemed a bit bereft of interest, then this lady came walking along and I took her shot a couple of times so she turned around to see what all the clicking behind her was about, and in doing so, she really made this shot.  I believe Bresson referred to such an instance as the "decisive moment".  Again, thanks a lot for the critique.

I like the jellified effect that the movement of the water makes on

the rocks in this pic. Any comments?

This is not a documentary photograph, it is an overwrought Photoshop experiment. Not surprised to see it chosen as Photo of the week though, as the elves do love their digital art.
