I am reducing the flash power to 1/128 and trying to take rapid photos with shutter release button pressed. I'm using non-CPU lens and trying to take rapid photos, however, with one shutter release button press it takes only one photo. I want to take photos continiously, I know when the flash needs recharge it will delay, but when the power is reduced to 1/128 and shutter speed as 1/250 with CH, it supposed to work.
I think it worked this way once but then its not working after some changes.
Any clue? I do not want to reset all settings.

Thanks.

Yes, lets have few comparison shots taken with natural lighting, same lens, tripod; and some simple subject like a colorful flower!

Hi,
Currently I'm in Fremont,CA for few days and would like to know good locations
for bird photography. I prefer "near by" places within say an hours reach, but
for weekends can think for little bit more distance. Since I'm new to this area
here for a short visit, would appreciate specific locations, tips are welcome!
I'm keeping an eye on the recent thread for other general nature photography.

Did anyone tried Canon G9's "remote capture" via the PC feature?
As per the following review, G9 offers remote capture via the PC! Did anyone
tried the feature? G9
Remote camera operation
How long the cable from camera to PC could be? How can one extend the length/reach?
The G9 also supports remote capture from your Mac or PC using the
RemoteCapture Task build into the Browser software. You can operate nearly all
of the camera's features from your PC, and when you take a photo, the image is
saved onto your hard drive. This is a feature rarely found on fixed-lens
cameras, so kudos to Canon for offering it.
Thanks,
Narendra

Does anyone has any idea about the estimated cost for such servicing from Nikon itself (El Segundo, CA) ?

Eric, The authorizedphoto.com is in Illinois state!

Hi,
I need to have my Nikon FM2n and 500mm P lens serviced in Fremont, CA area.
Since I do not want to send it for 3-4 weeks, I'm looking for someone nearby,
quick service and reputed. Inquired with "California Precision Service Inc" but
their time frame is 3-4 weeks!
Thanks in advance,
Narendra

Thanks a ton Ashwin. Could you also post a picture of your complete setup please?

Thanks all, I'll wait till the D200 prices drop! BTW, I'm currently in USA and so please do let me know if you see a good deal on D200, although I'm sure prices won't come down so fast!

Thanks all for the help!
Ok, I've got this (G9) camera but I'm out of home for sometime. Please tell me what all accessories are required to make this trigger. Please pardon my ignorance and do let me know all the details. Since currently I'm in US, I might as well grab everything before heading home.
Thanks,
Narendra

Thanks WT and JC.
JC, your remote release looks exciting, from where one can get this one and what is the cost?
This dpreview site tells me that these two cameras do NOT have the remote relase.

What features you want?
Compare each linen from the following link and decide, A710 S has IS, the other DO NOT!
Happy Choosing,

Chas, since you want manual control and "small package", G9 fits well as it has "Aperture/Shutter" priority and it is compact (370 gm).
850 do not have aperture/shutter priority. S5 looks bulky (550 gm)to me. Without Aperture/Shutter priority have can one take photos with full control?

Hi,
I'm planning for a digital camera and have zeroed in on Canon G9. But then when
I tried to compare older "compact film camera" with this, one important feature
missing is "Remote Control". Does anyone know any decent "Compact" digital
camera having remote control (triggering) feature?
Why is it that most "compact" digital cameras lack this feature when it was so
common 10 years ago in compact film cameras?
I checked few cameras but they are way too heavy, like over 500g!
Thanks in advance,
Narendra

Hi All,
I'm back with a question after a long time! It was way back in 1998 when I
asked for a long telephoto lens and went ahead with Nikon 500mm P f4.0 ED IF
AIS lens.
It was great Shun and Bob Atkins who had guided me for this wonderful lens!
Its a wonderful lens and you can see few of my pictures at
http://www.BirdsofEarth.com, I mostly shoot slides with a FM2n, TC14B, TC301,
300mm f4.5 ED IF AIS lens, Gitzo 1348. Now finding a slide film developer is
very difficult where I live!
So, I'm planning to go digital with Nikon D80! My main question; is focusing
very difficult with this combo? I've no problem with manual focusing and
metering, but not sure how challenging it with D80 would be? Specifically I
heard few say that in such situation D200 is better, but I know its $500 more
costly and bulky than the D80!
What do you think, is it worth going for this route? What are your suggestion
and ideas? Or is trading all gear and going full digital is the way to go?
Thanks in advance,

Thanks a lot Steve for the million doller tip! Yes, I did that, and yes, the mirror is coated with dust!
Thanks Robert for the detailed web page link showing how to clean it!

Actually, I had not used the scanner for almost a year!

My Nikon CoolScan III (LS-30) suddenly started giving soft or
unsharp scans. Previously it was working fine with a laptop with
windows 98. Recently I had to reinstall the OS and sometime after
this it started giving the soft scans.
To double check, I installed everything on Win XP Pro, and there
also the same problem is observed. What could be the possible
problem? Anyone had similar problem? I'm attaching a sample soft

Don't sell it to the dealer, he will give you around $125! Try selling it on ebay where you will get the best price. Recently one was sold for $305. You can also try Keh.com where you will get a better price than local dealer.
Nikon TC14-B any way to use it for macro with latest Nikon cameras and lenses?
in Accessories
Posted
Hi,
This Nikon TC14-B is an old 1.4x manual focus tc.
I want to know:
- can it be used with Nikon D300 camera (yes old model, not D300s) and Nikon 105mm AF 2.8G lens (latest). If yes, what are the different adapters needed.
- can it be used with Nikon camera like D7500 ? if yes
Assumption: All operation will be in MF only, agreed.
BTW, I have Nikon 55mm 2.8 AIS Macro and Nikon 105mm 2.8 AIS Macro with some problem and Nikon India says they have stopped support and can not repair them. I am shocked and disappointed by Nikon for refusing to repair these flagship lenses!
Thanks in Advance.
