This photo and others in your portfolio are awesome! You've given me ideas for architectural photography... and I really appreciate your foreground content use in some of your photo. Really great work, I wish I get to this level someday.

A river which runs through a green forest. Please do critique!

I like photographing landscapes, and have done a few river shots. In my attempt to get a great photos I've tried a lot of different setting, and the ones I think look the best are the ones that have a limited depth of field. Forests tend to have a lot of content to distract and take away from the main subject, and using a f-stop in the lower end (not totally shallow like 2.8) seems to give a nice focus on the main subject.
Use a polarizer; it will kick up the greens a bit, and it should stop down some light, allowing you to use a lower f-stop with the same shutter speed.
I don't like the splash that the water makes in the pool at the bottom of the little water fall (not in your shot alone, it happens to me when I do these kind of shots). Since you're using a tripod you could do two exoposures, one for your shot, and one for the bottom, a really long exposure that would make that area more silky, and combine the two in photoshop (not sure if that would work, I've never tried that, but it may).
Vinget this photo just a little. I love Vignet, and use it A LOT. It helps.
