1.
1) Video mode of N. D7000 is more advanced and requires knowledge how to use your work tool properly.
2) You can minimize sound with external mic which is located NOT next to lens.
3) If you want to shoot moving shots you will need some kind of steadycam. Very light, versatile ir steadycam merlin. You can start with that and later move on to more complicated rigs. Lens choice is vital for movies. It's hard to hold focus on moving subjects so wider lenses will make your job a lot easier.
4) Buy ND filters. If you want to shoot good quality videos in bright sunlight you will need them because in video mode it's recommended to use 1/50th of shutter speed for fluid motion. And i suppose that in a lot of cases you may want to keep you "f" numbers low. So there is no way how you can do that in bright sun without ND filters.
"Nikon D7000" ( you can replace text with any modern DSLR with video feature ) is great tool but only if you know how to use it and you will need a lot of additional gear. And in the end that gear will cost you a lot times more than your nikon. That is the sad truth..

  2.
I have a bad beat with photo gear. Once i got mugged on the street ( 3 russian guys locked me up one was holding knife at my throat, second was holding me and third with knife snatched off photo bag strap. ) And second time robbers breaked into my house and stole tv + photo bad with it's contents.
I see that Barcelona is quiet often mentioned. One of my colleagues got mugged as he said in a "classy style" ( lost gear ~8k gbp 5dmk2 + 85 1.2, 70-200 etc ) Car stopped, man came out showed fake police ID and wanted to search for drugs, one of them searched other distracted photographer and few seconds later he was standing on a street alone with no gear. It all happened in few seconds. So be careful.

  3.
US&A is big country, but in my own country i would not do it. why? for example your are charging in your own bizz 2-3 $k. But when you are working in other company you are charging 6 times less. Clients might ask why there is that huge difference ?
1 or 2 years ago i was working for another company just like you. Now I don't cooperate with them because sometimes my "boss" agreement with clients was not the same as mine with him . My concclusion that it is better to work on my own in photo bussines.
But in 3D i like to work in team. Maybe that is because of the people which i am meeting everyday. Anyway good luck!

  4.
For sport photography i would adwise to look at 300 or better 400mm. 200mm ( without 1.4 extender ) on FF will be too short.

NIKKOR 300mm F4 IF-ED
NIKKOR 80-400 f/4,5-5,6 ED VR

  5.
Khm I live in Latvia and if I would go to court for that railroad picture above I probably would loose the trial. We have a law that premits to take pictures of railroad stations, roads, hydro-electro stations and etc. And I think it is simmilar in other countries too because of security reasons. Interesting that not so long time ago when latvia was in USSR we could no take pictures where you can see both sides of the bridge. :) And a lot of places where named in different location names, for example, hydro-electro station "PLAVINU HES" was located in town AIZKRAUKLE, but they named it PLAVINU so enemys would not find it so easly :))))
You have to understand that railroad is strat. object and government is not intrested that people take pictures of railroad tracks, stations.

  6.
Hi guys! Do you know where UK photo community "hang out" on the internet? I am now living in Latvia ( Baltic states ) and i have a plan after 2 years when i will finish my studies at univeristy to go to UK and study there. Before that i would like to know are there any popular photography portals in Manchester, London?

  7. I think that you have enough gear. I have less gear available ( for now ) but i am doing fine. It's good that you have constant job and that photo is not your only business. In other job you can earn money to buy better equipment so in that way you can start thinking to break out kindergarten to go out play with big guys and make more $$$ + make people happy ( this is most important part ).

Don't panic about the crisis. There will be always need for photographers, especially wedding photographers. because it is the most important day of young people life's. New start which they want to remember. Work will be for everyone, for those who ask alotofmoney and for those who have just started. Those two groups are not competitors because clients differ for those photographers.
