    Alberta plains

I love the transition from light to dark, and the yellow to blue, great timing on the light.  I would definitely print this with a wider aspect that cropped at little off the bottom to just below the green swath, and a little off the top where the lighter band appears above the very dark band of cloud.  Finding just a little more light between the turbines and the yellow field would make it perfect.  As it is, it is a great image of Alberta!

  1. The proportion of foreground to sky is very good, and the top of the range has a nice line from top left to middle right.  For me, I would burn-in the left flat ground to the ice making it about five percent darker to balance it out with the top right sky, and then a little on the bottom right too.  Then I would try and bring up some of the blues and greens in the level portions of the ice either through localized burning of mid-tones, and/or saturation of these colours.  Great stitch overall, and I can't imagine what it took to get up there, it looks like you are on top of the world!

  2. Gorgeous transition to night between the silhouette and the sky.  The star trails are a perfect length for the frame.  This image could work for me as a square crop too, leaving the brightest trails on the left and right.  I tried a few of these myself this year, and I would be extremely pleased if I had done this well with mine!
