Fred,
I appreciate your suggestions.
I decided to revisit the image and ended up going B&W, which turned out much better IMO.
Thank you for the help.

Thanks for your comments Fred.
I did do some post. This is actually an overlay of the color over a black&white. It both desaturates the image and darkens it. The issue is that it darkens the image too much sometimes and I'm not sure whether I need to overexpose a bit or just lighten it up in post after doing the overlay.
Here is the original.

Very sharp, very interesting person. I like it very much and prefer this one to the monochromatic version.

Thank you for the advice guys.
I do agree about the contrast. I have been playing with the image to try and get more contrast, but have not gotten any results I like so far.
I may have to rescan the image with the exposure bumped up a little more. Once I get an opportunity to do this, I'll post my results.
Thanks again!

Wow, thanks guys!
I actually just posted this shot w/ a few others for a friend to view. I didn't think anyone else would look at them ;)
Thanks for the encouraging words.

Great lighting. I love strong back/side light on any fuzzy animal!

Very cool. I've been working on some similar photos, but nothing has turned out yet. I guess I'm a bit shy about having the tripod out and taking photos of businesses at night!
The reflection off of the sidewalk really completes this image. I'm glad you decided to include it.

I love the composition and combination of abstract tiles with the man on the bicycle.
Excellent photo!

I really do wish I had captured this on my D200, but I happened to
have the F100 loaded with Kodak 400CN B&W (C-41 emulsion). I like the
feel that the cheap B&W film gives for many subjects, but I'm not
quite sure how I feel about nature photos with it.
I did kind of like the way this one turned out though.
Do you think the image works?

Too dark, or does it work?

I don't do much architecture...this might even qualify more as a
landscape. Shot on Kodak B&W 400CN (cheap C-41 B&W film).
Do you think the angle/crop/focal length work for this image? Should I
have gone tighter?

Great shot....
I would love to see the same subject shot with a wider angle lens (closer to the boat obviously) for a different perspective and more expansion between the boat and mountains.
However, this is still a wonderful photo as shot. 6/6!

A caste.... a beautiful sky.... beautiful green grass and trees..... hot air balloons, and reflections... all in one photo!!! WOW.
Great job! 7/7~

I think that the composition in this photo is wonderful, as is the use of color.
I do feel that the mood does project a little sadness, and the colors really work to communicate this. I'm not sure if this was the artist's intention or not, but that is how it comes across to me. -
I like the way the sparks almost make a pinwheel/star and the colors in this photo.
Unique and great photo! Thank you for sharing.

C&C welcome. Thanks for looking!

I think that a larger depth of field (keeping the chain link in focus) would have made this shot more powerful, though I'm sure it would have been difficult to do and keep the eyes in focus.
Other than that, nice shot. The expression on his/her face is definitely one that says "I don't like being confined that much".
