  1. Thanks for your comments Fred.

I did do some post. This is actually an overlay of the color over a black&white. It both desaturates the image and darkens it. The issue is that it darkens the image too much sometimes and I'm not sure whether I need to overexpose a bit or just lighten it up in post after doing the overlay.

    Here is the original.

Thank you for the advice guys.

I do agree about the contrast. I have been playing with the image to try and get more contrast, but have not gotten any results I like so far.

I may have to rescan the image with the exposure bumped up a little more. Once I get an opportunity to do this, I'll post my results.

    Thanks again!

Very cool. I've been working on some similar photos, but nothing has turned out yet. I guess I'm a bit shy about having the tripod out and taking photos of businesses at night!

The reflection off of the sidewalk really completes this image. I'm glad you decided to include it.

I really do wish I had captured this on my D200, but I happened to

have the F100 loaded with Kodak 400CN B&W (C-41 emulsion). I like the

feel that the cheap B&W film gives for many subjects, but I'm not

quite sure how I feel about nature photos with it.

I did kind of like the way this one turned out though.

Do you think the image works?

Do you think a barn works as a good subject?

How do you feel about the B&W, should I have shot this in color?

(Note: Shot on cheapo Kodak 400CN B&W C-41 process)

And...how about the composition? Did I include too much of the ground

    in front?

I don't do much architecture...this might even qualify more as a

landscape. Shot on Kodak B&W 400CN (cheap C-41 B&W film).

Do you think the angle/crop/focal length work for this image? Should I

    have gone tighter?

  2. Great shot....

I would love to see the same subject shot with a wider angle lens (closer to the boat obviously) for a different perspective and more expansion between the boat and mountains.

However, this is still a wonderful photo as shot. 6/6!

I think that the composition in this photo is wonderful, as is the use of color.

I do feel that the mood does project a little sadness, and the colors really work to communicate this. I'm not sure if this was the artist's intention or not, but that is how it comes across to me.

I love the color on this little bug. This has to be one of the best macro shots I have seen, I really like how the little dew drops all over it magnify parts of it even more. Amazing.

I think that a larger depth of field (keeping the chain link in focus) would have made this shot more powerful, though I'm sure it would have been difficult to do and keep the eyes in focus.

Other than that, nice shot. The expression on his/her face is definitely one that says "I don't like being confined that much".

Frisco is starting to get up there in age, so I wanted to snap a few

photos of him while I still can. He has been an amazing dog, and I am

not sure if I can make a photograph that would do him justice.
