  1. <p>I like the B+W 82mm UV MRC filter, but I really, really want a filter with threads that will retain the Canon lens cap. <br>

Require no vignetting with the 16-35mm lens, naturally.<br>

B+W makes "slim" models for wide angle lenses that come with those irritating slip-on/fall-off lens covers. Working in dusty high desert, these are worse than nothing. <br>

B+W also makes thicker 82mm UV MRC filters that claim no vignetting with this lens, but I can't determine whether filter has internal threads for the Canon lens cap.<br>

Can anyone on the list recommend a model of the B+W 82mm UV MRC that will do what I need? <br>

Or ... another brand of equivalent quality?<br>

    Thanks,<br>

    Randy</p>

  2. <p>For starters, no need to re-create the book. In iPhoto, view your iBook, then:<br>

File Menu --> Print --> PDF button in dialog box --> Save as PDF.<br>

I'm guessing some print shops can work from a PDF. <br>

Also, you now have a digital copy which you can share without the cost of printing.<br>

You can also save as a QuickTime movie set to a sound track of your choice. Same basic process. Have fun :-)</p>

  3. The viewfinder is one reason we shell out for pricey SLR bodies, yes? But when the camera is nearly flat against the sand at the

bottom of a dark canyon, as in the example above, the viewfinder and LiveView mode are useless. Hence the original question.

Lenses can be damaged by a "drop or hard hit" but that doesn't stop Canon from making a wide selection of excellent lenses :-)

Thanks, Amol, for the link to Chuck Westfall's site... it seems I'm not alone in wishing for the convenience of a pivoting LCD for

    awkward situations.

Bob and Jos, thank you for helpful suggestions. Working on it :-)

  4. I have the XTi and XSi and am ready to spring for the 50D. However I often miss the variable angle LCD available on the more basic Canon cameras.

I was particularly frustrated recently when hiking in slot canyons in Arizona... I wanted the camera basically on the ground aiming straight up, using

Time Value. Is there a way to plug a small external LCD into an EOS? Or display the capture on a laptop before hitting the shutter?

    Thanks,

    Randolph
