1.
Brad- You should contact your local Nikon. I don't remember the exact price, as the D200 was my friend's camera (and was fixed by Nikon Israel). What I do remember is that it was not cheap. The good part of it...that it can be fixed. Good luck.

  2.
Hello Sara,
I myself live in Holland, so it's hard for me to give you any advice about how you better promote yourself in your surrounding. However, I believe that if you have a good product to offer, you can get your piece of a pie.
By using the power of Internet you can easily manage with international clients as well, so you shouldn't restrict yourself only to your place of residence.
I've entered weddings photography last year, and from this year I will also offer my clients wedding albums.
I prefer to outsource the job to a skilled and talented person.
I was thinking that maybe we could help one another.
You can access my personal site to view my portfolio, if you click on my name and go to my profile page on PN. I would like of course to see some of your designs as well. If you like the idea, then send me an email.
Wish you a lot of success! Ronny

  3.
If I've already posted my favorites for up to 3yrs category then it will be only fair to post 5 of my favorites from +3 years category
Wen Chang
Sergey Usik
Marcin Harla
Jay Philbrick
Paul Sokal - Dallas, TX

  4.
Well... I've also picked 11 from up to 3 years

Ma tthew Kuehl
Ron Anderson
Sheer El-Showk
Michael McManus
Dave Shilling, Sacramento, CA
James Cox
Victor Morozov
David Hong
Victoria H
Dennis Creason
Kate Callahan

my favorite will go to Dennis Creason
In my eyes it's just a lovely image.
It's seems like one of those images that will bring up a funny story 20 years down the road.
And that is what it all about, to leave B&G with happy lasting memories.

Ok...lets play now the 10 that you didn't like the most! just kidding...

  5.
Jay - I've suggested that to him.
But he can not access camera's menu, because the screen doesn't work.
So it makes it kind of difficult, though I thought that if he finds menu's layout somewhere on the net. And then just follows that to get him to the right directory, then maybe it might work!?
So to your question, no he didn't try that yet.
That's why I'm trying to outsource the best possibilities for him, before more damage is done.
The problem is that I live to far away from him, and can not just get over there to take a look at it myself.

  6.
I'm myself a Canon user (so don't shoot!), but I'm posting this question for my friend who owns D200.
So here it goes:
He updated his camera with the latest firmware version.
The mistake that he has done was putting both of the updating files together on the same memory card, while it was written that he MUST update them separately. Unfortunately he didn't pay a good attention.
Now the camera won't work-
1.the screen is black (won't turn on)
2.when he turns the camera ON the shutter goes down ones, and the camera actually registering an image on the memory card. (which he can later see on his laptop)
3. but after that, the shutter button won't work anymore.

the camera started to die slowly, first he has noticed that the AF stopped to work and short time after the rest mentioned problems appeared.
Have anyone of you experienced the same problems? How did you solve them?
Thanks a lot guys.
And for other members who are about to update their cameras, let it be a warning! read the instructions carefully, so this won't happen to you!

  7.
About an hour ago I've ordered the "Grace" template from bludomain. This is my first year as a wedding photographer. I also charge less than 10th of what you charge. But if you really want to set yourself apart from others, get a web designer. So you can have a website that answers on all your needs and as I've said will set you apart from the other 1000 photographers who have the same template.

BTW I will go live with my new website in couple of days, and I will really need your help guys!

  8.
Candice, I would suggest to make the logo of the company smaller. IMO It goes to much over the images.
I think that your images look beautiful, but I have to admit that your selection surprised me once or twice. (for example the B&G dancing with the band on the background.) If I were you, I would make a striker selection. Another issue is that you don't give the viewer the opportunity to navigate back & forward, I've found it inconvenient. And now I'm coming to the "biggest" problem, I could see spots on some of your images. Looks like dirty sensor to me. If it so, I would take care of that immediately. You don't want to show your clients that you don't clean your sensor property. (take a look at the wide angle shot of B&G sitting on the stairs)

  9.
FotoFusion is a great software for that.
You can easily create frames and templates then just drag and drop.
It's really easy and cool.
go to their website www.lumapix.com/index.shtml to find more info and you can check it out for yourself with fully working demo version.

  10.
This was my first payed job as a wedding photographer.
It was absolutely fun, I hope that all the wedding that I'll shoot will be this way.
I've used the chance to capture the bride while she was dancing alone to a fast-beat music.

Using: canon 5D & canon 20-35/2.8 L 580EX II
Settings: 20mm f/4.5 @ 1/6 ISO 400 using on camera flash
As far as I remember: flash was zoomed in and probably dialed down by 2
In addition: PS to achieve the desired affect.

The wedding was in summer 2008.

BTW... Good Luck to everyone with the contest.

In addition I wish us all the "new" comers to the industry, a lot of success in 2009.

I know that I have big expectations from myself this year!
00SFPI-107043984.jpg.d2f2a2bb58389b70596af3a5e87a573a.jpg

  11.
Hi Donald, No I didn't figure it out yet! I do know that switching (ETTL -> TTL ) is a known and common problem among many users. You could try to check the contacts and maybe to tight up the screws.
I know it's annoying when it happens while shooting a job...

  12.
Happy New Year to you all!
I was shooting yesterday formals with B&G in a forest covered with snow.
The light was doll, it was misty and cold.
I was wondering how would you approach this setting.
Just to give you an idea I'm submitting one of the images
In your opinion was the photo exposed correctly?
Would be there a better way do to it?
How can i maximize the results in post processing?
Thanx

00S3R5-104424184.jpg.782366ba0b1335970abf89f461511cde.jpg

  13.
We had here (Netherlands) Canon day about a week ago, so I took the 5D and the 580II, hoping that my salvation is soon to come.
To my surprise no one down there could answer why this is happening (you can read about the problem in the first thread of this page), not talking fixing the problem on the spot. And they were guys from Canon's official technical services. If they don't know it, who does?
Disappointed! I went to play with some other 5D's bodies and same speedlights, switching them around with my own stuff to find out where the problem actually comes from.
And it happened to be that there is nothing wrong with the 580II flash unit, it works perfectly.
So yeah...the 5D gives the hard time, that worries me much more!
It's not all solved yet... I still have to send the body to Canon, just trying to figure out the best time to do that, as once I send, then I have to go back to my 10D for more than a month.
Should they actually provide me temporary with alternative body? just a thought...
I'll let you know once it's over...

  14. Hello to all the Photographers!

I'm a new member to the photo.net community, which I find extremely helpful.

So I use this space also to thank you all for sharing and teaching.

I will do my best to contribute here as well.

    For my question:

I'm using 580EX II flashlight on my 5D.

Most of the times it works fine, besides minor "problems" when it switches from ETTL to TTL, or other exposure

    mistakes.

I'm aware of these problems and learning to "live" with them.

What causes me the most worries is that when I turn the flashlight to Manual mode, it blocks my aperture or shutter.

Meaning when the flashlight is set to manual and the camera to Av priority, the camera will automatically give me

the slowest aperture of f32 ( for example) and when the camera is set to Tv priority then the camera does the

    same and gives me 1/8000.

When trying to change the settings, it won't work.

    Did anyone experience similar problems?

I want to know if there is some kind of a technical problem with the equipment.

(I can still send it to Canon under warranty)

    cheers

    Ronny
