..this is a  Spider Lilly or sometimes referred to as a "Shoals Lilly."  The largest stand of these in the world can be found near my hometown in Central Alabama on the Cahaba River.  Great composition here.

great shot and you framed the falls well. Did you try to bring up the shadow detail in photoshop/dpp, etc.? You would lose a little contrast and might show some noise, but it might give you some more detail in the rock face in the center.

Looks like the horizon needs leveling which is an easy fix. Also I would suggest either tightening up on the tree, or placing it in the left or right 3rd of the frame (can't change now but for future reference). Otherwise great job.
  1. Splendid. I said that out loud when I saw the picture. My only suggestion would be a slightly wider angle of view, to give the skyscraper a little breathing room. Not a big deal and doesn't change the terrific capture.

  2. Ya this is stellar. One of the few images I've seen on this site that I would like to hang on my wall. Stephen has a good point about the circular polarizer and the sky color, but to be honest I didn't notice it initially. I think the broad color spectrum and strong depth were what got my attention. Composition is great, but I wonder how the scene would have looked once the sun got a little lower (if you had time to wait).

Good job Dimitris. I like the choice to tighten the frame around this fall. You might consider a polarizing filter for scenes like this, to enhance the color of the rocks and moss, and also to allow a slightly longer exposure. I like it.

Good choice of mono/selenium for this image. Not sure which HDR software you are using, but you may want to play around with the settings to lessen the "glow" around the dark parts of the scene. Unless of course that's the effect you are aiming for. Great job.
