Just to update my comments from September, I have since relinquished ownership of the Digilux 3 and replaced it with three Digilux 2s and one Lumix DMC LC1. I find this camera to be much closer to what I'm looking for and save for it's quirky technological deficiencies, it borders on being a "perfect" camera. The image quality is magnificent and the feel and handling of the analog controls is an absolute pleasure.

I would love to see this camera develop into a "tweener" with the rangefinder feel and handling with quality DSLR functionality. I love my Digilux 3 for walk-around shooting, but just wish it were a touch more comfortable in the hands. I love the look and would not want to see the retro styling go away.
I can see the marketplace producing a niche of users that start looking for an "old-school" sensibility after they've burned through the "model-of-the-month" syndrome of current DSLRs. I think there's a point where people realize they want a quality piece that reminds them of shooting with the simplicity of a 35mm film camera and one nice lens.
I drag 3 bodies and 6 lenses all over the country. When I go out with my sun to spend the day I just want to take great pictures and have confidence in the files. But I want that comfort in my hands and in my head. I want the "technology" to be invisible. The Digilux 3 is close. The M8 is out of range. We need something in between.

Before you get too far along, your campaign would be better addressed to:
The response posted here seems a bit incorrect as well. I'm unaware of the regular FP100B being discontinued... I was informed that it was only the FP100B45. ALSO... FP3000B45 is not available yet... but will be.
Regardless, I agree, FP100B45 is sorely missed....
