The Desert Landscape: From Capture to Print
March 18 - 22, 2009
$1,195 tuition
Visit Moab. Photograph Arches & Canyonlands National Parks. Learn Lightroom and Photoshop. Make beautiful prints.
All of this and more are packed into one, intensive five-day photography workshop that’s uniquely designed to
take your photography to higher levels.
During this personal, comprehensive workshop you’ll photograph the dramatic canyons, impossibly perched arches
and towering sandstone spires of Arches and Canyonlands, guided by pro photographers/instructors Bret Edge and
Nathaniel Coalson.
We’ll shoot the landscape in the sweet light of sunrise and sunset. Then, during the day, we’ll work in a
comfortable meeting room helping you master the digital darkroom using Lightroom and Photoshop.
Throughout the workshop, hands-on demonstrations and critique sessions will help you refine your image-making
skills. And you’ll come home with prints of your favorite images that will dazzle your family and friends.
This workshop is open to digital photographers working at any level and is limited to 10 participants. Visit
www.moabphotoworkshops.com to register for this exciting workshop!

Just a reminder that I will be co-leading a photo workshop with Nat Coalson in Moab Oct 23-26. In addition to
photographing amazing locations (some of which are relatively unknown) and great fall colors, we'll also be doing
workflow classes using Lightroom and Photoshop and lots of critique sessions. Participants will come home with
fantastic images and vastly expanded digital photography knowledge.
We've only got a couple of spots left so if you're interested visit www.moabphotoworkshops.com to register soon!

This is a common issue with wide angle lenses and polarizers. Many companies make ultra-thin polarizers designed for use on wide-angle lenses to minimize the vignetting effect. I use the Singh-Ray ultra-wide on a 17mm lens and the vignetting is very minimal, and easily corrected in post processing.

I use them on a fairly regular basis instead of fill flash. I use the Adorama 5 in 1 portable reflector, which has a gold and silver side, as well as a diffuser helpful for photographing small scenes and macro. This reflector is cheap (less than $50) and folds up to fit neatly inside your pack. They're great for adding natural looking light to foreground elements (i.e. wildflowers, etc.) when you're composing a near/far image and they're easier to use than fill flash.
